"Reflection on Isaiah 6: 8  Prayer"

I would like to share with you my observations on the short & dangerous  prayer in Isaiah 6:8.  But first a little  back-story is needed. Isaiah 6: 1-7 gives us details which leads up-to this prayer. Isaiah is given a vision of heaven with the Lord sitting on a high and exalted throne, with the edges of His robe filling the temple . Winged creatures were stationed around him saying " Holy , holy , holy is the Lord of heavenly forces . All earth is filled with God's Glory " The temple doorframe shook at the sound of their shouting, and the  place was filled with smoke

And then it happens - Isaiah heard the Lord's voice saying : " Whom should I send, and who will go for us " ?
Isaiah answers : " Here I am Lord, Send me "

Do you see what just happened here ? God is putting out a divine help needed sign , but with no details at all on what the assignment is going to be. And Isaiah could have said something like - Hey Lord, where do you want to send me, or why ask me - there must be someone else who will answer your calling. But no, He simply says - ok Lord, I am here send me to whatever and wherever you need me to go. A pretty dangerous prayer answer. And guess what - God is asking the same question today that He asked Isaiah thousands  of years ago

Now here is the best news about all this - God will give you the grace and power to serve Him. He will plant in you the desire to surrender to His will even though you may be scared of the consequences. Phil 2:13 tells us that it is  "God who is working in you to do his will ". All you have to do is lift your hands to heaven and say yes to God's calling, grace will then take over. God will give you the power, strength, resources and a willing heart. And remember - the results will be supernatural because it is God at work in us

Luke 10:2 reminds us that " the harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few " . So here is the big question : are you ready to set aside all your fears and concerns - and invite God to use your life in any way He wants to ? Yes I know it is a dangerous prayer to say . But the eternal payoff will last forever. I will leave you with one final thought - do you want your earthly life to have an eternal impact ? Do you want to live each day knowing your living your life for eternal value ? Is it time for you to say to God : " Yes Lord - here I Am - Send Me " . The choice is yours !

have a blessed day,  Gary Rich
