Regarding scriptures given where Christians should be armed are correct. Jesus never intended for us to be sheep to the slaughter, he warned against it many times.

In Matthew, that’s a whole different set of apples!

First; Jesus HAD TO DIE, if the Jews didn’t do it, God would have made the Romans do it, and if they hadn’t, he would have made another way. Had to happen or none of us would be saved.

You know the above already, so the point is, the words spoken; Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

This was a command from Jesus for that time…if you try to stop me from being murdered, you too will be murdered, as Jesus MUST die so all men can be redeemed for eternity. Sounds much more like a warning to His apostle(s) than the future world of Christians.
