Hello RobinI am also at the retirement age and have struggled over these matters also.
I spent time in the word concerning pre-planning for the future economic crash, and the value and use of the dollar.
I am posting this scripture from Psalms, because I know that whatever troubles we have, no matter what it is, we find answers for our spiritual need, our physical need, and our finances in the Psalms.
O Give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, "whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;" And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. They' wondered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. " Then" they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and "he delivered them out of their distress." And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; Because "they" rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: Therefore he brought down "their" heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.
"Then" they cried unto the Lord [in] their trouble, and he [saved them out] of their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.
Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
( For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.)
Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
"Then" they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and [he saveth them out of their distresses.] HE SENT HIS WORD, and [healed] them, and [delivered] them from their destruction(s).
Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
AND LET THEM SACRIFICE THE SACRIFICES OF THANKSGIVING, and declare his works with rejoicing.
They' that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;"These" see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.
"Then" they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father Matthew 10:29
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:31
But even the very hairs of your head are [all] numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:7
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
I had to leave it up to the Lord in prayer, that he would KEEP me in the time of trouble.
We know according to Job, He (God) SHALL deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. Job 5:19
Please read Job 5:19-24 and compare these verses with Revelation 6:1-14
Notice also the 17th verse of Rev 6. For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
NOW Revelation 7: The servants of the Lord are [sealed] in their foreheads.
NOW lets go way back to Genesis (6) we read that the Lord judged the first world, and Noah is told in (7) Come thou and all thy house into the ark: for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
Job He shall deliver thee in (6) troubles, in (7) there shall [no evil] touch thee.
Revelation 6 are the troubles, and in 7 we are already caught up to our Lord, a Noah was in the ark and safe from the flood.
We are not appointed to wrath: 1 Thessalonians 5:9
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation (by) our Lord Jesus Christ,
Therefore we are no longer here after the SIXTH seal.
The things we have are less and less important.
The Lord gave me a vision 5 years ago: This is what I saw.
THE POWER OF
39, 29, 19, 9, ......4
COMON
83
Just as you see it here.
Most of us can figure out "common 83" Psalms 83
I determined that "The Power Of" was also in the Psalms.
Psalms 39:4, 29:4, 19:4, 9:4 and also the whole Psalm chapter 4
The Message:
Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is;
that I' may know how frail I' am. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, For thou hast [maintained] my right and my cause; thou in the throne judging right.
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
HEAR ME when I' call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me "when I' was in distress;" have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
O sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah
But know" that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I' call unto him. Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your [trust] in the Lord.
There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, LIFT up the light of thy countenance [in my heart,] MORE than in the time that their corn and their wine [increased.]
I will both lay me down in [peace,] and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest [me dwell in safety.]
We need to Trust in the Lord, with all our hearts, and [not] lean upon our own understanding, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Proverbs 3:5 =s 8
Matthew 4:4 =s 8
Luke 4:4 =s 8
8 is the # for eternity and the word of God, which is forever. Jesus is "the word of God" therefore 8 is the # for Christ.
The phrase "O give thanks unto the Lord" is mentioned 7/7 times in the whole of scripture. 7 being the # for completion.
IN SIX TROUBLES HE WILL [DILIVER] THEE AND IN SEVEN, NO EVIL SHALL TOUCH THEE. Job 5:19 KJV
I love to study the word of God.
Hope these words were of some comfort.
God Bless You
