I heard an interview on the radio of Gerald Posner of his new book about the Vatican bank.  I haven't yet read the book, but the interview was interesting.  He talked about problems with how it was mismanaged and flew under the radar for many years without any public scrutiny.  He said that because the Vatican bank decided to go with the Euro when Italy abandoned the Lira for the Euro, they have since been forced to open their books for auditing by the EU.  It sounds like an interesting read anyway.
