Fay: Your observation is quite correct. I distributed an article a week or so ago describing the Italian refugee situation. The refugees had spent THOUSANDS to get to Italy. They are not the lower tier. They are educated merchants, professionals, government workers, etc. sufficiently desperate to sacrifice all to escape (and they had much to sacrifice). There is no solution. Greece is stuck with them; the rest of Europe wants them not.
As to camp conditions, despair breeds lethargy.

"Europe Misery"
Whilst it is apparent just how desperate these migrants are - surely it wouldn't be too difficult to organise clean up teams? Why are they portrayed as helpless victims? None of them are in rags. None of them are bone thin and starving. How hard would it be to try and keep some semblance of order and cleanliness? These endless morbid articles seem to revel in filth and human uselessness. I really suspect a media agenda here. I cannot believe that human beings - no matter how ill educated - could be so listless and lazy. Waiting on hand outs. Something is seriously amiss.
