"The wheels of justice..."

Hello, John and Doves,

“In 1654, one Friedrich von Logau wrote something in German that Longfellow (sometime in the 1800s) translated into English as:

Though the mills of God grind slowly, yet they grind exceeding small;
Though with patience He stands waiting, with exactness grinds He all.

Today’s news:

That victim’s mother had to wait 19 years.  And before he died, the condemned made a lot of snarky comments.

That is no way to face death and judgment.

It is written,

            If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9  NIV

However, there was no confession forthcoming from that lost soul.

We remember that we have read,

            27Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Hebrews 9:27-28  NIV

And how should we be found waiting?

It is written,

            A psalm of David.

1Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?

Who may live on your holy mountain?

2The one whose walk is blameless,

who does what is righteous,

who speaks the truth from their heart;

3whose tongue utters no slander,

who does no wrong to a neighbor,

and casts no slur on others;

4who despises a vile person

but honors those who fear the Lord;

who keeps an oath even when it hurts,

and does not change their mind;

5who lends money to the poor without interest;

who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

Whoever does these things

will never be shaken.

Psalm 15  NIV

Again, it is written,

            16You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;

you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.

17My sacrifice, O God, isb a broken spirit;

a broken and contrite heart

you, God, will not despise.

Psalm 51:16-17  NIV

Yet again, it is written,

            BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Psalm 119:9

~Blessings,

Mike
