"social constructs: being salt and light in a dark world."
In my previous letter, I wrote:
"But also, the fellowship of believers can influence society as a
whole, in moments of revival and reformation. Our history is full of
such moments."
This is the very reason that Jesus prayed that we are not taken out of
the world, but that the kept from the evil one. (John 17:15)
This the very reason for the great commission to bring the Gospel to all
parts of the World. That through our saltiness, and light, the world
can see the truth of Jesus Christ. In revelation 14, we also have a
similar thing occurring with one of the three angel messengers sent by
the Lord.
6 Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal
gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and
tribe and language and people. 7 And he said with a loud voice, “Fear
God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and
worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of
water.”
Throughout history, in the times when lawlessness appears to be
overtaking the world, the Lord sends his messengers to proclaim the
Gospel to the world, that the lawlessness may be restrained. This comes
in the form of revivals and reformations. Where would the church be
today, had not the reformation occurred. We would be under the error of
the catholic churches, and their works based Gospel. Other revivals have
occurred at times of great industrialization, where man was becoming
nothing more than a piece of the industrial machinery, or during times
when the very existence of God was laid aside in the name of science, or
humanism. We are living in perhaps the most lawless time in history
that I can think of. The world is torn apart in religious wars,
revolutions and conflicts of all varieties throughout the world. I
recently read an article that said only 11 countries around the World
are classified as "being at peace", and even those have impending
dissensions that may come to the forefront.
The churches themselves are in conflict amongst each other, arguing
doctrines that are traditions of man, rather than from God. Division is
the word of this century, each following their own way. Has the church
lost its saltiness and its light? The False Prophet is gathering
together churches in an ecumenical movement gathered around false
teaching. Should not the Body Of Christ also be joining as one as well?
Or is it up to the angel of the Lord to proclaim the Gospel to the world
this time? So then what is our role in these end times?
Some answers: To be a testimony of the sanctifying work of God in our
lives. To stand out from this divisiveness. To be a beacon of the
Love of God. To show that there is a right way, and a wrong way, Or as
Malachi puts it: 18 Then once more you shall see the distinction between
the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who
does not serve him.
The Unification of the false church is nothing more than the
"institutionalization" of this church. As it grows, it will bring "peace
and security", as it deceives people into worshipping the beast. We are
seeing the very first fruits of this now. Many of the strongholds are
being rebuilt, and as they do, apparent peace comes, and in these
strongholds security dwells. People are all too content to trade their
liberty for security. To put this differently, People are all too
willing to put their saltiness into a mixture, where its flavor is
drowned out by all the other ingredients. How many of you have made ice
cream before? Salt is an essential ingredient, but you cannot taste the
salt in ice cream. So also, the false Prophet needs to cast your salt
into the pot, in order for him to make the enticingly sweet ice cream
that promises peace and security. The flavor of this Ice cream is
"compromise". And it is the truth that gets compromised.
The true Body of Christ is joined together not by compromise, but rather by "Love and Truth" ( Eph. 4:15)
Or rather salt and light. Truth is a big word, and there are many things
in the churches that are viewed on as Truth, when in fact they are the
teachings and traditions of man. That is the whole reason for writing
these letters here to the churches out there. Is the Pre-tribulation
rapture a truth or a tradition of man? Or to those who hold the opposing
view, is the Post-trib rapture, or whatever rapture view you have,
truth or a teaching of Man? There are true believers on both sides of
this debate. Perhaps, we just have a partial understanding of the Truth?
Is this Biblical? Read 1 Corinthians 13. Consensus begins with Love for
one another. Consensus finds what we have in common with each other.
After that, it understands that we as humans know in part, until we see
him face to face, then we shall fully Know. "Who can measure the Spirit
of the Lord"? (Isaiah 40:13) Those who say they know it all are not only
contradicting the Word of God, they are limiting the sovereignty of God
to their own understanding. Both sides of this debate are guilty here.
Both sides quote scripture to back up their viewpoint. Both sides honor
God with their lips, but their heart is far from him, as they vainly
worship him and elevate their own understanding to the level of Truth.
(Luke 15:8-9)
I write these things that HE may be glorified by us, Joined together as one.
21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in
you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you
have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them,
that they may be one even as we are one, (John 17:21-22)
God Bless.
