"Jeanette re: Things are just getting crazier"

Hi Jeanette:

I only had time to read a few of the 5 Doves letters this morning (8/29).  Tonight, I began to read the ones that I'd missed this morning and I read your letter.

This morning I had an e-mail from American Family Association.  They are telling the story of the Christian group who was threatened with arrest in Raleigh.  I sent an e-mail to 5 Doves this morning that included a link to a petition that will go to the mayor and city council of Raleigh.  The petition is a form letter.  The only chance that you get to voice your opinion of their ridiculous behavior is in the subject line.  So, for the subject line I wrote, "Feeding the Homeless and Hungry is a Problem for You?????".  I hope that people can instill some shame in the mayor and council members.

I read the article that you provided and I really don't believe that they are sincere about working with the Christian groups.  I think that it's just an excuse because now they're getting some negative attention.  I agree with the guy in the article who said that they just want to get rid of the homeless people.

This also happened in Houston, TX about a year ago.  My husband and I were discussing it this morning and he vaguely recalls that this also happened in Tyler, TX.  He wasn't sure and could have been thinking about the Houston incident.  I also think that I heard about this happening somewhere else last year, but I can't remember which state that it occurred in.

I think that the excuse used was that the food might be unsafe or that they could get food poisoning.  Wow, I guess that food from garbage cans is safe.

I think that this is going to become a trend.  These highfaluting city officials have to maintain an image, you know.  I guess that coveted "Most Beautiful American City Award" (or whatever it's called) must be really important.  I can think of a lot of things to say about this, but I'll spare you the rant and give you a verse instead.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
