"the kings of the east"

A number of years back, I read a book by a very popular prophecy teacher, where he combined a couple scriptures to make his point.

He combined:

Revelation 9:16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

with:

Revelation 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

To make his point that Israel would be attacked by a 200 million man army from China.

I only wanted to address the kings of the east, here.

Why would “the east” in Revelation 16:12 mean China, when that doesn’t appear to be how this is used throughout the Bible?

Judges 6:33 Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel.

I don’t think Midianites & Amalekites were gathered together with the Chinese in the valley of Jezreel,

Job 1:3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

I don’t think Job was Chinese,

Isaiah 11:14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

I don’t think it will be the Chinese, together with Edom, Moab and Ammon.

Isaiah 41:2 Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

He wasn’t Chinese.

Jeremiah 49:28 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east.

I don’t think Kedar was in China, and I don’t think that Nebuchadnezzar went to China, either.

Ezekiel 25:2 Son of man, set thy face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them;

4 Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.

The Ammonites were not defeated by the Chinese.

Matthew 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

I don’t think the wise men were Chinese, either.
