""high on the hog" question"

I have a question.
As late as Revelation 18, Mystery, Babylon is described, prior to her judgment.

Right before chapter 19, then, the people in Babylon are living deliciously,

.      the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies (written in present tense for whenever that judgment falls),

.      the kings of the earth appear to still be living deliciously with her up to the last moment,

.      the merchants of the earth only mourn when she is judged as it appears she is buying their merchandise right up to the last minute,

.      in lines 12 & 13 her consumer product list is astounding even up to the moment of her judgment,

.      the merchants made rich by her bewail her saying in one hour so great riches is come to naught,

.      her riches in line 17 & her costliness in line 19 are mentioned at the time of her judgment.

So, my question is:

Is it possible that at least Babylon is spared a total economic breakdown,

.      appears to be living “high on the hog” until the last minute,

.      like the wealthy in Sodom were, or like the wealthy were when Noah entered the ark?

Is it also possible that she is not experiencing famine or plague prior to her judgment?

Is it also possible that she is not under the dominion of the beast?

Rather, that she sits upon the beast, until the ten kings turn on her to destroy her.
Anyway, what do you think?
Also, if she currently is not America, then who could she possibly be, if the end is at the very doors?

                          Thank you,
