"Matthew 24:34 Who is this generation?"

Doves,

In Matthew 24:3, the disciples came to Jesus privately, saying, tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?  Jesus began answering there questions starting in verse 4.

When shall these things be? What “things” are the disciples referring to?  Since Jesus just told them the buildings of the temple will be thrown down, it seems reasonable to me that the disciples were asking Jesus when the temple buildings would be thrown down.  Do you Doves agree or disagree.  I don’t see where Jesus directly answered this question in Matthew 24:4-34.

What shall be the sign of the coming?  This question implies that Jesus had already told the disciples that he would be coming back to earth again. Do you Doves agree or disagree that the disciples are asking about when he’s coming back again to planet earth and are not asking about when he’s coming to rapture his church?

What shall be the sign of the end of the world?  It seems to me that Jesus answered this question in verse 14 when Jesus said “this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come.”  Do you Doves agree or disagree.

Matthew 24:34 (KJV) Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.  This implies that “this generation” will pass after all these things are fulfilled.  Do you Doves agree or disagree?

What are all of these “things” listed in Matthew 24:5-34 that must be fulfilled before “this generation passes?

5 Many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars.

7 Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 Many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 Many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 The love of many shall wax cold because iniquity shall abound.  Look up the definition of iniquity.

14 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 The abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, will be seen standing in the holy place.

21 Then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

24 There shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 Eagles be gathered together wheresoever the carcase is.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Notice that Israel becoming a nation again in 1948 or Israel taking back control of Jerusalem in 1967 is not one of the “things” listed in Matthew that must be fulfilled before “this generation” passes.

So my question to the Doves is why do so many claim the 1948 or 1967 generation is the generation Jesus is referring to in Matthew 24:34?

God Bless
