Doves,
In the study of the end times and where we are on the timeline I think it important to realize that the NT writers evidently used the term ''the day of the Lord'' in a different way than the same phrase is used in the Old Testament.
In Paul's writings especially, he seemed to understand the Day of the Lord (Jesus) as the time when Jesus comes for/to the Church.
In the Old Testament the term was used by the writers/prophets as being the time when the 1000 year Millennium would start.....which is not the same time as when Jesus comes to/for the Church.
And some bible students say that in some places in the NT the term ''Day of the Lord'' should the the ''Day of Christ''. Yet for Paul the Apostle, the ''Lord'' was ''Christ''...........so any verse that has that phrase would still be referring to the coming of Christ for/to the church.
I believe there is a 6000 actual timeline that is accurate. Many believed this time was up at year 2000 ad. But it is now 2013 ad!
Having studied with Bonnie Gaunt for over 10 years via email and having read her books and based on my own and a few others chronology here is what I have concluded regarding the timeline.
This is only a summary/conclusion.
Archbishop Ussher, based on his own massive studies, believed that Adam was created in 4004 bc. Thus he believed that Jesus was born 4000 years later in 4 bc.
Bonnie Gaunt, who studied chronology since an early age and for the rest of her life concluded the following.
Adam was born in 4002 bc. Adam was created without sin.
Modern studies led Bonnie and others to conclude that Jesus was crucified in 33 AD Nisan 14.
Bonnie also studied all the chronologies in the Old Testament regarding ''how long'' persons lived etc. just as Ussher did.
However she could not account for 33 years.
She then concluded this. Jesus is called the Last Adam. So Jesus and Adam are type and anti-type.
Jesus lived 33.5 years before ''becoming sin''...........the sin offering. ''He became sin who knew no sin'' Paul writes. So Bonnie, back-tracked to Adam and suggested Adam lived 33.5 years before he sinned.
Jesus became sin at age 33.5
Adam sinned at age 33.5
When the above calculations were put into the puzzle of chronology all fit perfectly.
If the cross was in 33 ad in Nisan then the well known period of 2000 years for the rejection of the Jews and the time of the Church would end in 2033 ad. That is just simple arithmetic.
Does that fit with the other timeline factors? Let's see.
Adam born in 4002 bc. in the fall of the year..........same time of year as Jesus was born.....in the Fall of 2 bc.
Adam sinned 33.5 years later.......probably on Nisan 14.....same time of year Jesus became sin.
From Fall of 4002 bc going forward 33.5 years we arrive at 3968 bc (Spring!) for the date when Adam sinned. I suggest Adam sinned on Nisan 14.
***Note this carefully. The 6000 year plan of God relates to the Fall of man.........that is, when Adam sinned. All the types in Exodus and Leviticus regarding the number 6 relate to ''debt'' and ''slavery''........as ''sin''. A slave was to serve 6 years and then go free in the 7th year.
Adam did not become a ''slave'' to sin ............until he sinned! Thus the 6000 years of which the number 6 is type relates to the mortality of man. The counting of this 6000 year period cannot start with when Adam was created........but when he sinned.
In the Old Testament slavery is reckoned as debt and debt as sin. One quick example of this carried over to the gospel time of Jesus is the Lord's prayer, which says to ''forgive us our Debts..........'' and etc. Thus ''debt'' is reckoned as ''sin''.
Now let's see if the other pieces of the prophetic puzzle ''fit'' the above parameters.
From 3968 bc (Nisan), the time when Adam sinned and the 6000 years BEGAN the mortality of man..........coming forward 6000 years we arrive at Nisan of 2033 ad !!! It fits. And from Nisan 33 ad to Nisan 2033 ad is 2000 years.
Here are the specifics:
Adam sinned in Nisan of 3968 bc. ( Adam having been created in the Fall of 4002 bc in the Fall of the year, would have been 33.5 years old in Nisan of 3968 bc)
From 3968 bc Nisan to 1 bc Nissan is exactly 3967 years. (3968 minus 1 is 3967).
The calendar/s did not have a year ''o''. The time simply went from 1 bc to 1 ad. So picking up at 1 bc Nisan going forward to 33 ad Nisan is exactly 33 years. (And if Jesus was born in the Fall of 2 bc, then he would have been 33.5 years old at the crucifixion)
So far, based on the above time parameters, we have the following periods from the fall of Adam in 3968 Nisan:
3967 years from Nisan of 3968 bc to 1 bc Nisan
33 years from Nisan 1 bc to 33 ad Nisan.
These two time periods add to 4000 years.
Then from Nisan 33 ad to Nisan of 2033 ad is 2000 years.
Total time is 6000 years confirmed. Therefore we see the 2000 year interval fit exactly where it should be found in the 6000 year period.
Before I met Bonnie I knew from my own studies that there were 2000 years of the church age and the same 2000 years of wandering for the Jewish nation. For me, that is set in stone. To deny these 2000 years is to deny too many scriptural examples of this 2000 year period.
Any chronology that does not fit the above 2000 years from 33 ad is in question, and in my opinion just wrong.
So the question then is asked.............or should be asked..... ''do you then mean we have to wait till the year 2033 ad'' for the coming of Christ to/for the Church.
My answer is.........in my opinion...........''no, we do not have to wait''. That is why I titled this post as I did regarding the 'day of the Lord'.
I believe the church age will end in 2033 ad. However, Paul spoke about attaining to a ''better resurrection''........what most of us would call the Rapture. I believe it will come before the year of 2033 ad. Some in the church, however, will not be raptured and will last to 2033 ad.
The question I cannot at this time answer is ''how long till the rapture'' or put another way ''how many years before 2033 ad will the rapture be''?
I have felt the story of Joseph and Benjamin in Genesis it very likely a type of the end of this age. Remember in that story that time indicators are given, such as:
1) Joseph was put in the pit by his brothers at age 17.....given in text in Genesis. Secular sources say he was age 18 by the time he was sold in Egypt.
2) Joseph was 30 years old when he was promoted to 2nd in command in Egypt. There were then 7 good years. Thereafter there came 7 bad years. After the first 2 bad years, Joseph revealed himself to his brothers. There then followed 5 more bad years.
The Genesis text is not clear on when his brothers first came to see Joseph............it could have been the first year of the last 7 famine years.........but Joseph did not reveal himself to them when they first came.
But consider this. If Joseph arrived in Egypt and was sold to Potiphar at age 17/18, then until he was promoted to 2nd in command at age 30 would be 13 or 12 years. Then came the 7 good years. That made Joseph 37/38 years old. If his brothers came to see him when the 1st famine year hit, then it would have been a period of 20 years since Joseph last saw them. JR Church suggested that these 20 years of separation represent the 2000 years Jesus would not ''see'' his brethren.
As a side note consider this. The 2000 year period is referred to in the Old and New Testaments in several ways with numbers. It is sometimes referred to exactly by the number 2000. Sometimes it is called 2 days. Sometimes it is represented by the number 20. And several times it is represented by the number 40.
The context of the scriptures where the above numbers are used will have the type of Jesus coming the first time and being rejected and then the type of Jesus coming at the end of 2000 years to set up the Millennium.
Note these 'discoveries' by Bonnie Gaunt that she emailed me in her later years. Bonnie had a person configure a program and load it into her computer so she could search for Gematria in the Scriptures. The below are some email Bonnie sent me, specifically concerning the year/number 2033 ad.
David,I have been working with Gematria in Psalms today, and came across something interesting. Psalm 14:7 says "Oh that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad."The first statement -- "Oh that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!" has a Gematria value of 2033. This is an interesting connection. I believe that by the spring of 2033 salvation will have come to Israel and they will be re-married to God in a binding covenant.Bonnie_________________________________________________________________David,I have been going through the entire Psalms, running it through my Gematria program and searching for 2033. Soon I will write a paper on this, just to have it on record, so I won't forget what I have learned. But for now, I just want to tell you about one little scripture that needs much more study, because I think there is more there to be found and understood. After I write the paper, I will send you a copy -- but for now, let's look at just one scripture. It is Psalm 68. It speaks of God's "procession," and describes it something like a parade. He says:"Your procession has come into view, O God, the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary. In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the maidens playing tambourines. Praise God in the great congregation; praise the Lord in the assembly of Israel. There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah's princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali." (Psalm 68:24-27)Amazingly, the underlined portion adds to 2033. Little Benjamin leads the way. If Benjamin represents the bride of Christ, then this description of a procession takes on new beauty. I think little Benjamin leads the way because it is representative of the bride who has already been joined to her bridegroom -- and I think the date is 2033 because that is when Israel (represented here by Judah, Zebulun and Naphtali) begin their special position as the seat of Divine Government which will spread out to all the world. The singers and musicians are probably the holy angels who will sing and rejoice that the Kingdom of God is finally being established -- but little Benjamin is the bride of Christ having been joined to her bridegroom and ready to establish Divine Government in the earth (starting with Israel).Bonnie___________________________________________________David,First, look at the parable regarding the Good Samaritan. You suggested that the Good Samaritan represented Jesus -- and I agree. So I don't need to go into detail regarding why he represents Jesus because you already see the beauty of it. But just let me call your attention to the words of the Good Samaritan when he said "When I come again I will repay." The phrase "I will repay" has a gematria value of 2000. It appears to be a hidden time measure, telling us that it will be 2000 years after he saved the "traveler" who represents mankind, he will come again. He paid the price for the sin of Adam on the afternoon of April 3, A.D. 33 -- so 2000 years from that date brings us to the spring of A.D. 2033.With this in mind, let's go to your other "evidence" in Hosea 6:1-2. And this is thrilling. Look at the last two verses of chapter 5. It says "For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him. I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early." Now we know that this is directed at Israel -- all Israel -- both the northern kingdom (Ephraim) and the southern kingdom (Judah). We also know that the covenant that God made with Israel at Sinai was a marriage covenant. Israel said "I do." But she was unfaithful to that covenant, and so, just before Jesus died he said to Israel "Your house is left unto you desolate." In those days a divorced woman was considered left desolate. And when Jesus hung on the cross he finalized the divorce when he said "It is finished." Then he said he would go away, and that he would return when they will acknowledge him and seek his face. Israel has not yet acknowledged him nor do they seek his face. But they will. They are relying on their own power to repel their enemies. But Zechariah told us that they would look upon him whom they had pierced, and would mourn for him. They haven't done that yet either. But they will.So Hosea 6 begins with the acknowledgement of Him and gives us a definite timeline as to when Israel will be restored to their marriage with God -- a re-marriage, if you please. It begins by saying that Israel will return to God, and they will acknowledge the fact that He had torn them, and now they know that He will heal them -- they know that God has smitten them but that He will bind them up. So let's quote the scripture:"Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight."The portion of this scripture that I have put in red has a gematria value of 2033. It is telling us that God will heal Israel and bind up their wounds in the year 2033, which is 2000 years from the date of the divorce. But that's not all. He also gives us the date on the Hebrew Calendar, which is 5793. So here is Hosea 6:2-4:"After two days he will revive us. In the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live before him. Then we shall know, we who follow on to know Jehovah. His going forth is established as the dawn, and he shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth. O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your goodness is like a morning cloud, and it goes away like the early dew."The portion that I have put in red has a gematria value of 5793, which is 2000 years from the date of the divorce on the Hebrew Calendar. Then we have the beautiful prophecy in Hosea 2 regarding God's remarriage to Israel. It says that she will answer there as she did in the days of her youth at Sinai (that's when she said "I do.") And it goes on to say that this time He will marry her in faithfulness. These prophecies in Hosea are telling us that God will re-marry Israel and that she will be a faithful wife. And hidden in the prophecy He gives us the date -- 2033 on the Gregorian calendar, and 5793 on the Hebrew calendar, both of which are exactly 2000 years from the divorce.Bonnie Gauntdp / end
