I have a question to all of you about "familiar spirits" from the Bible. They are pretty much talked about negatively in scripture, but the part of the subject that "jumps out" to me is the root word of "familiar" being "family". Also, can't help but notice the last 4 letters "liar". I guess I'm wondering if the people on earth who pass away, are not saved, and have died in their sins are actually the "familiar spirits"? Also, if our spirits survive outside of our bodies after death and we are not "sleeping", I'm guessing we would most likely stay around those we were closest to--our families. Just looking for any opinions based on scripture supporting or denying the position. Thanks,
