In 2Kings 2:11 it says...
And they went on and talked, and behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire parted the two of them, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
 
It was the chariot of fire and the horses of fire that seperated Elisha from Elijah! But it was the whirlwind took Elijah up into heaven.
 
But in Psalm 68:17 God's chariots are mentioned too.
