I doubt that “it is demonic”. As I understand it, each believer has a guardian angel. I hope mine is a female, not a male. After the trouble in Gen 6, I doubt that God would set up a system where male angels watch females all the time.

 

To me, the woman in the ephah in Zech 5:5-11 represents the harlot church of Rev 17. The two women that fly it to the land of Shinar, Babylon, are two church groups, probably Protestant and Catholic.

 

Zec 5:6-11 says, "What is it? And he said, This is an ephah (i.e., a church group) that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth (Catholic means universal). 7  And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman (i.e., a church group) that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. 8  And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. 9  Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women (i.e, two religious groups, Catholic and Protestant, or Catholic and Eastern Orthodox), and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. 10  Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah? 11  And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of SHINAR (i.e., Babylon, Gen 10:10): and it shall be established, and set there (in Babylon) upon her own base (the foundation of the Tower of Babel)."

 

Gen 10:8-10 says, "Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. 9  He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. 10  And the beginning of his kingdom was BABEL, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, IN THE LAND OF SHINAR."

 

Rev 17:3-11 says, "So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness (lit., desert, as at literal Babylon): and I saw a woman (i.e., the Universal Church) sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4  And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication (joining together, as in a world church): 5  And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6  And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7  And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8  The beast (i.e., Satan) that thou sawest was (i.e.,was in man, Judas Iscariot, the 1st son of perdition), and is not (i.e., is not in man now); and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit (i.e., at Mid-Trib), and go into perdition (the 2nd son of perdition, the False Prophet): and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast (Satan) that was, and is not, and yet is (exists). 9  And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains (i.e., kingdoms: Babel, Babylon II, Media-Persia, Greece, Holy Roman Empire, Ecclesiastical Roman Empire, and Babylon III), on which the woman (MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT) sitteth. 10  And there are seven kings: five are fallen (kings of Babel, Babylon II, Media-Persia, Greece and Holy Roman Empire), and one is (Ecclesiastical Roman Empire), and the other (the False Prophet of Babylon III) is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space."11  And the beast (Satan) that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition (the False Prophet)."

Zechariah 5:5-11

G. The Woman in a Basket (5:5-11)

Meaning: Idolatry and mercenary religion removed from the land to its ancient home base in Babylon.

The seventh vision shows a woman in a basket (Heb. ephah). The ephah was the largest unit of measure used in business, somewhat like a bushel basket. The woman is the personification of "Wickedness." In the land, the lead cover was kept on the ephah, meaning that wickedness was restricted. But two other women flew with the ephah to Shinar (Babylon). This seems to signify the removal of idolatrous and mercenary religion from Israel to its base in Babylon where it originated. Such a removal would, of course, be preparatory to the judgment of Babylon and to the setting up of the kingdom. "House" in verse 11 means "heathen temple."

Israel was cleansed of idolatry after the Babylonian captivity, but it will embrace a worse form of idolatry in the future when it worships the Antichrist as God.
