In re the discussion on female angels, thanks to Jimmy for raising Zech 5 at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/aug2012/jimmyl84.htm . In English, Zech 5 would seem to settle that debate, but I posted a discussion on this passage at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/may2012/jovial524.htm showing that “women” could simply be “lifted ones” in this passage. So it does not completely refute the idea that all angels are men, because “lifted ones” could refer to men being lifted. But in reality, I find it unlikely, yet not impossible, that such a confusing choice of words would be used if that were the case. But I would also need to see a clearer passage in Hebrew to argue that there definitely ARE female angels. But this passage tends to suggest it is at least possible. That opens up another question; are there baby angels? Do they propogate? But Matt 22:30 would seem to refute that, since it mentions being “like the angels” in contradiction to marrying.
Another possible explanation is that perhaps angels simply have no gender. That could mean that it is possible to use EITHER male or female language to describe them. Hence, we see both language used in Zech 5 that strikes us as tilting feminine, as well as masculine names in many places.
