Hello Nicole, I have to agree with my friend, a retired nurse and Christian, to whom I passed along your post about "Woe to Them That Give Suck......" Here is what she had to say.Wow! There are extreme breast-feeding groups pushing for the "right" to breast feed in public. They have always had that. If people do it discreetly, nobody is even really aware of the fact! But this is also ridiculous to "lock up" formula. True, many of the preemies I took care of eventually got formula for either medical reasons, OR the mother's milk dried up! So, is that a "medical reason" for getting a PRESCRIPTION for formula? Legislating breast-feeding is nuts. Back in previous times, if a mother's milk dried up early, there were no formula choices. They had to put a baby on something it's body would not be ready to digest well, like cow's milk or goat's milk. And that would have been "raw milk" so it wasn't pasteurized, and that cow or goat better be dang healthy. But there were still problems with baby digestion, so sometimes they got sick anyway because they didn't have enough mother's natural immunities in their system. Our hospital pushed breast feeding to a point because it has been proven extremely beneficial for premature babies on ummunities and growth, but preemies still needed a fortifier to add to that breast milk if fed in a bottle by dad. The whole thing is just weird. Now that this rant is done, I think this other viewpoint on that bible verse is amazing. It IS a whole new viewpoint on that verse. But, many moms in the days of Roman occupation breastfed their childrenTo which, Nicole, I add that they sure weren't regulated like it has become now. You sure were given insight on that verse by the Lord. Thanks for sharing. G
