God's Word or human tradition
Hello John and Doves,
The resurrection of the Lord is clearly according to Scripture
on the Feast of Firstfruits and that day is always Nisan 16.
This year Nisan 16 falls on Friday, April 3, which is the actual
day of the resurrection in our calendar. According to the Bible,
Jesus was crucified on Nisan 14, which this year falls on April
1. All of this points to the same thing: God's Word versus human
tradition.
The tradition of what days Easter is celebrated was established
by the Catholic Church, as was the fact that Jesus was born on
December 24 and that Pentecost is in the spring along with the
Feast of Weeks. What do we choose? The Lord Jesus constantly
struggled with the powerful problem of tradition in God's people
when He walked this Earth.
The church in Philadelphia is praised by the Lord for one thing
above all else, that they have preserved the Word of God. These
Christians have always given the Scriptures the highest
priority.
