"Second Passover"

It was in the second month that Israel, after coming out of Egypt, started receiving manna from heaven.

It also took place during the timing of the second Passover with its Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Now, I ask folks to read all of John 6.  I believe there is a timing clue for us in that chapter.

I observe in verse 4 that it was the time of the Passover.

I observe that after Jesus fed the large group of people, that those who tracked Him down afterward pressed Him with respect to Israel being given manna from heaven.

That is a second Passover timing theme.

I thought, "Why the second Passover timing theme being intermeshed with the first Passover account?"

I am also thinking that is exactly what we are dealing with at this season.  Are we coming up upon the first Passover May 1-3 or is it the second Passover?

Perhaps God is allowing both timings to dovetail today, this year, and is also why John 6 seems to include both.  We are to think in terms of both.  The first Passover includes a Feast of First Fruits, whereas the second Passover does not.  The second Passover allows a man (Jesus) who has been away on a long journey to celebrate the Passover a month later.

If valid, then something Jesus says repeatedly in John 6 becomes significant in my thinking.  Notice how many times He says clearly that folks will be raised on the "last day".

My mind wonders, "The last day of what?".  "Could Jesus be pointing us to the last day of one of the two Passovers' Feast of Unleavened Bread?"

What I find interesting is the last day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread as in the story found in II Chron 30.  That second Passover event did not just have one week for the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  They did it for two weeks.

If the upcoming Passover on May 1-3 ends up being the second Passover, then the "last day" of two weeks of Unleavened Bread falls on May 14/15!

Why would I presume to overlay the account in II Chron 30 with where we are today?

I am thinking that account is how the Jews will celebrate with Jesus the closing of the judgement years after the land had been cleansed for 7 months.  I am thinking Jesus may close out our 1993 years of a type of tribulation similarly.

The second Passover does not have a Feast of Firstfruits, but it does have a "last day".

For what it is worth.

God bless you.
