Hello John and Doves,This message on "The Bible" channel on You Tube is a powerful message of death, terror, resurrection, hope, and promise. It explains what happened, what it means, how it all fits together. What happened on that hill changed everything. This was HUGE. It ended the old covenant of sacrifices and rituals and brought the new - written on the heart, it opened the Holy of Holies to all of us. We can all go to God now. Jesus did this with "His unspeakable gift'. He is risen, indeed!Here are my notes, if you'd rather read than listen:Seven supernatural events happened during and after Jesus' crucifixion.These events "shook the very foundations of reality, events so profound that they are still reverberating through history today."What would you have done if you saw the sky go black at noon? If you had felt the ground split under your feet? If you had seen the dead walking through the streets of Jerusalem? These were not coincidences. "These were God's response to the greatest sacrifice in human history."1) Supernatural darkness covered the land like a shroud...this is not an eclipse...that's impossible during a full moon... It began at noon. This was instant supernatural, absolute darkness. From noon until 3 PM darkness covered the land...this was "the shadow of God's wrath falling upon sin itself." This was impossible. During Passover, the moon is full which means that a solar eclipse cannot happen. Everyone knew this. This was beyond explanation. Amos 8:9 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the Earth in the clear day." This was prophetic fulfillment. In those three dark hours, "Jesus hung between Heaven and Earth, bearing the weight of every sin ever committed"; the darkness was the visible manifestation of God's judgment following upon His Son instead of upon us." What does this say "about the weight He carried and the cost of our redemption?"2) The Earth trembles - graves open, the Temple stones shake...The Earth could not remain silent when it's Creator died. This wasn't just geological activity, this was the planet itself responding to the death of its creator. In the darkness the ground began to crack, the foundations of Jerusalem moved...tombs split open. In Ex 18:19 The whole of Mount Sinai quaked when God came down in power. Now it trembled again, not because God was descending, but because God was dying. But something deeper was happening: this was a "sign the old order was being shaking to its foundation; covenant built on law and sacrifice was cracking apart. The religious system that had separated humanity from God was coming undone." This was "Heaven declaring that the old was gone and something new had come. The ground shook because the spiritual ground was shifting...And in the midst of this, something remarkable happened...tombs were opened - "this moment wasn't an ending, it was a beginning...the Old world was shaking apart to make room for something entirely new."3) The curtain tears in the Holy of Holies - "something that was never meant to be touched by human hands; the veil 60 feet high and 4 inches thick splits from top to bottom with a sound that echoes through eternity. Inside the Temple, the veil - the massive sacred curtain - was tearing from top to bottom with one violent supernatural tear." This veil represented "the physical manifestation of humanity's separation from God. For 1500 years this barrier had stood between sinful man and Holy God. Only the High Priest could pass through it and only once a year and only with blood. The veil was 60 feet high and 30 feet wide. "Historians tell us it was so thick that teams of horses couldn't pull it apart." Matt 27:51 at the moment Jesus died, this impenetrable bearer split from top to bottom..torn by the hand of God Himself." Think about the priests in the Temple when this happened...the priests would have been terrified..."the veil suddenly splits apart with a sound like thunder. The Holy of Holies, the most sacred space on Earth, the place where God's presence dwelt, was now exposed, the barrier was gone. The separation was ended, the way was open. What did this mean? In Hebrews 10:19 - 20: "Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the most holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body. The veil just wasn't torn cloth, it was Jesus body broken for us. The barrier between God and humanity wasn't just fabric it was sin itself. And when Jesus died taking our sin upon Himself the separation ended forever." You longer need to go through priests, rituals or buildings to reach God....you don't need to wait for appointed times...you don't need to bring sacrifices or earn your way into His presence. The door is open, the barrier is gone. The way is clear. The veil didn't tear to let God out of the Holy of Holies, it tore to let us in. When you pray, you aren't speaking to a distant God...you are entering the throne room of the universe through the torn veil of Jesus' sacrifice.""The torn veil declares that access to God is no longer about your performance, your heritage, or your religious credentials, it's about Jesus' finished work; it's about His blood, His sacrifice, His torn body opening the way for you to come home."4) The graves surrendered their grip on the dead. Matt 27:52 - 53 the tombs broke open, bodies of many holy people were brought to life and seen in Jerusalem. They were alive again. Death lost its authority. The tombs opened when Jesus died, but the saints didn't enter the city until after Jesus was resurrected. They followed Him, they didn't proceed Him. He was the firstfruits. The former dead are walking, talking, breathing."Death was being challenged, defeated, reversed." Their very existence was a testimony to power of Jesus of death and resurrection; if death lost its grip even before the third day what does that say about the authority of Christ? What does it say about the hope we have in Him?" Death isn't the end. "His death didn't just pay for sin, it reversed the curse. It didn't just provide forgiveness, it conquered death itself."5) In the midst of these supernatural occurrences, one man saw it all happened and his heart was changing. Matt 27:54 The Centurion and other soldiers were terrified and it was the Centurion who said that "Surely, this man was the Son of God!" This Centurion had seen countless deaths, witnessed and carried out countless executions, but none like this. "None of those had prayed for their executioners, none who showed such composure in agony, none whose death caused the Earth itself to tremble." The Centurions words were confession, testimony...the very man who had carried out the execution was now declaring Jesus' divinity." "Grace had found its way even to Golgotha, even to the executioner, even to the one who seemed furthest from God's mercy." The centurion's conversion wasn't just about what he saw, he was placed there as a witness. "This Centurion represents all of us in a way, we are all complicit in Jesus' death. Our sins put Him on that cross. Our rebellion demanded His sacrifice." "Yet we can find Grace at the foot of the cross. Jesus death wasn't just about paying for sin, but about transforming hearts."6) Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, both members of the Sanhedrin who were secret followers of Jesus, who did not witness the death of Jesus, showed up to honor Him in death. Two members of the religious council that had condemned Jesus were now preparing to honor Him. Joseph went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. This took courage. Joseph was risking his reputation, position and standing. And Nicodemus came to the tomb with 75 pounds of myrrh and aloes - this was the royal treatment reserved for Kings. These two men who had been afraid to follow Jesus publicly came in daylight now, "they handled Jesus' body with reverence and care. They touched the flesh that had borne the sins of the world, they wrapped the limbs that had been pierced for our transgressions, they anointed the head that had worn a crown of thorns." These men had been silent during Jesus' trial. "Sometimes our greatest acts of courage come not when every one is watching, but when everything seems lost." The stone was rolled in place to seal the tomb. The next day the chief priests went to Pilate - they wanted the tomb secured until the third day. They felt threatened by Jesus even in His death. Roman guards and a Roman seal were to secure the tomb.7) "Every precaution they took only made what was about to happen more undeniable - every guard they posted became a witness, every seal they placed became evidence, every measure they took to prevent resurrection only served to authenticate it. They sealed the tomb trying to stop Jesus from rising but the seal they placed to silence Jesus would only amplify His voice. The stone they rolled to contain Him would become the stage for His greatest triumph." They had three days..."to keep death satisfied with its greatest prize.""But Sunday was coming...and with it the most Earth shaking revelation in human history." The women came at dawn. There had been a violent earthquake and an angel rolled away the stone. "The tomb was opened not to let Jesus out, but to let the witnesses in." The angel said, "He is not here, He is risen."Over the next forty days, Jesus appeared to many people. He wasn't a ghost, He ate with them, talked with them, walked with them, taught them. He was physically alive. "The same men who fled in terror at the crucifixion were now willing to die for the truth of the resurrection. The empty tomb declared God's victory over sin and death; the risen Jesus proved that His sacrifice was accepted, His payment was complete; His promise was true.""Death had done its worst and failed. The grave had claimed its greatest prize and lost it. Every prophecy was fulfilled; every promise was kept; every hope was vindicated. The darkness had given way to light. The earthquake had settled into solid ground. The torn veil had opened the way to eternal life. They came expecting a corpse and found a King; they came to mourn a death and discovered eternal life; they came to honor a memory and met a living Savior.""The seven supernatural events that followed Jesus' death all pointed to this moment. The darkness declared God's judgment on sin; the earthquake announced the shaking of the old order; the torn veil opened the way to God, the risen Saints previewed resurrection life, the Centurion's faith showed grace reaching the unlikely; the burial prepared for the triumph and the empty tomb proved that Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be - the resurrection and the life.Thousands witnessed these signs. Some wept. Some ran in terror. Some worshipped the risen Christ. Others covered it up...and "picked political convenience over spiritual truth"'. The religious leaders demanded signs - they were given seven. Many hardened their hearts.What happened after Jesus died, wasn't just the end of a man's life, it was the moment Heaven and Earth collided. When the spiritual realm broke through into our physical world with such force that even Rome's hardened soldiers fell to their knees in terror and awe.Every tomb that holds a Believer...is empty. Death has lost its sting. This is "our hope, our future, our guaranteed inheritance". This isn't just history....these seven signs happened for you. The darkness fell so you can walk in light. The Earth shook so your foundation could be solid. The veil tore so you could come home. The dead rose so you could live forever. The Centurion believed so you could know that grace reaches everyone. The tomb was sealed so the resurrection would be undeniable. And Jesus rose so you could rise with Him."You have the same choice as those who witnessed all of these miracles first hand. "Will you see or dismiss? Will you believe or explain away? Will you surrender or remain silent?... This is your invitation to experience the same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead. It's your opportunity to walk through the torn veil into God's presence.
