"Looking At Ascension Day and Pentecost and Possible Dates for Ascension Day/Shavuot/Feast of Weeks 2025; and Petr's Letters"

Hello John and Doves,

In this letter I wanted to look again at Ascension Day and Pentecost.  Especially after reading Petr's recent letters to Doves.  Thank you, Petr.

I wrote about Ascension Day/Feast of Weeks and possible dates for this day this year.

I believe that Ascension Day is also the Feast of Weeks/Shavuot.  Jesus fulfilled the first three Feasts of the Lord on their exact days...and I see His Ascension as also occurring on a Feast of the Lord - the next one in line would be Feast of Weeks/Shavuot.   I also believe that in Acts 1, that Luke's reference to 'a Sabbath's day journey from Jerusalem' was in respect to the law forbidding work on a weekly Sabbath and a High Sabbath (or Feast of the Lord) and since Luke did not call that day a Sabbath...by default I'm going with Feast of Weeks (the next High Sabbath to be fulfilled).

And I see Pentecost as Feast of New Wine.  When Peter talked about the 'new wine' in Acts 2, I believe he was referring to the 'new wine' being presented on that day to the Lord by the High Priest in the Temple.  Firsfruits of the new wine were required by the Lord -  Deuteronomy 18:4  "The firstfruits of your grain, your new wine, and your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, you shall give him."  The children of Israel were commanded by Moses to bring to the house of God to be received by priests.  They included:  The first fruit of grain.  The first fruit of new wine....."

Thus the people could not drink it until after the priestly ceremony - they could not be drunk on 'new wine' that morning - they had to wait until the ceremony was completed.

Dr. Awe has covered Pentecost as Feast of New Wine in several of his videos.  And check out Luis Vega's extensive collection of letters on this topic.

In Petr's letter 6 Apr 2025 he noted that "There are only two feasts where the specific day of celebration is not clearly set and must be calculated according to the instructions given in Scripture.  These are the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Pentecost."

Petr has had several interesting and well written letters recently on the counting of Feast of Weeks and Pentecost.

These two appointed days are indeed 'different'.

Another difference is there was a prophecy made on each of these days.  I believe these prophecies, since they were given on these days, will be fulfilled on these days - in the future.

Ascension Day (Feast of Weeks/Shavuot) had two angels (men dressed in white) and Pentecost had Peter saying that 'this is what's happening' - and then goes on to quote Joel.  Of course, what Joel predicted to occur for the End Times was not happening that day in Jerusalem.  So why did Peter quote Joel on THAT day?  He certainly was filled with the Holy Spirit and was guided in this prophecy.  I see this as a prophecy for that day "Pentecost" - on some future Pentecost, when those things will, indeed, happen.  And when people see the prophecy of Joel fulfilled on Pentecost they will be able to look to Peter in Acts 2 and connect the dots.

Ascension Day (Feast of Weeks) and Pentecost were each 'fulfilled': the first with Jesus Ascension, the second with the arrival of the Holy Spirit.  But there was a prediction made on each of these days.  A prophecy, I believe, for a future Ascension Day and for a future Pentecost.

Both Days Had a Prophecy Over Them:

There is 'what really happened' on each of those days (Jesus Ascended on Ascension Day and the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost) and what 'was to happen in the future' (Jesus to return in the clouds on a future Ascension Day and 'wonders in the Heavens, blood, and fire and smoke, and the sun darkened/moon to blood' on a future Pentecost.)

Ascension Day:

On Ascension Day, two men in white suddenly appeared and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into Heaven?  This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into Heaven." Acts 1:11  Jesus had been 'raptured' up into Heaven and a cloud hid him from their sight.  Another translation is:  "a cloud received Him".

Could this be a reference to:

1)  The Second Coming?  The Second Coming really needs no explanation as every eye will see Him and He comes down with an army on white horses and He steps on the mountain and splits it in half.  In the Second Coming He comes "with power and great glory"  Matt 24:30  In Rev 1:7 "He cometh with clouds and every eye shall see Him."  And Rev 19:14 He comes with "..the armies of heaven, clothed in fine line, white and clean, followed Him on white horses."  And Jesus returns on a white horse. Rev 19:11

2) Or to the Rapture?  The Rapture is a mystery.  Jesus ascended up in the air on Ascension Day.  They watched Him go into the heaven and then into a cloud.  I believe the angels were referring to what Paul would later tell us.  This message was so important to God to get to us that He sent two angels to deliver this message.  And at the Rapture  "For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven...."  Not with His armies or white horses.  We "...will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air."  1 Thess 4:16,17.  It looks like we meet Jesus in the air, and are 'caught up' in the clouds.  Like Jesus' rapture event.   The Galileans watched Jesus rise up into the air.  Just like people will watch the 'Raptured' rise up in the air.   Jesus comes as Himself...not as the great conqueror at the end.  He has come to take His Believers to Heaven.

Thus, I do not see Act 1:11 referring to the Second Coming - I see this as a prophecy of the Rapture. Could this happen on the exact day that Jesus Ascended?  The exact day the two angels prophesied about this?

Two Prophecies for Two Specific Days:

Ascension Day:  the two angels prophesied, I believe, about the coming Rapture.  To possibly occur, on a future Ascension Day/Shavuot/Feast of Weeks

Pentecost Day:  the prophecy of Joel was quoted by Peter.  Of course, what Joel prophesied did not occur on THAT Pentecost....but maybe it's a dual prophetic day - once as the prophesied sending of the Holy Spirit and as a second prophecy of Joel's that will apply to some future Pentecost.

The Day of Pentecost:

On this day, Peter stood up and addressed the crowd - he said that what is going on is what was spoken by the prophet Joel.  (Of course, we know Joel's prophecy was not being fulfilled at that time.  This is why I think Peter's words are for a future Pentecost.)

Peter quoted Joel 2:28 - 32:  "In the last days, God says I will pour out My spirit on all people."  There will be visions and dreams and prophesies.  God will show wonders in the heavens and signs on the earth - blood and fire and smoke.  "The sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and glorious Day of the Lord."

The Rapture comes before what Peter quoted was to happen.  Joel wrote about the Tribulation period.  So will the Rapture occur shortly before a future Pentecost day?  Like on the previous Feast Day - Feast of Weeks/Shavuot?''

In Acts 1:4, Jesus instructed His people to not depart from Jerusalem for "after many days" they will be baptized with the Spirit.   "Pollas" in Greek means 'many' or 'a lot'.  That could be 50 days...from Feast of Weeks/Ascension Day to Pentecost.
Acts 1:5 Interlinear: because John, indeed, baptized with water, and ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit -- after not many days.'

And in the book of Acts, "When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place."  Acts 2:1.  A complete week is from the first day (Sunday) to the seventh day (Saturday/Shabbath).  Seven of these must be fully completed to arrive at Pentecost."  That's why Luke wrote, "When the day of Pentecost was fully come..."

And with the 70th Jubilee falling on 10 Nisan this year...we could very well be 'wrapping everything up' before the Tribulation period begins.

Counting to Feast of Weeks/Shavuot:

God A Minute Date for Feast of Weeks/Shavuot:

Aaron at "God A Minute" Youtube channel started looking seriously at Feast of Weeks/Shavuot last year as the Rapture day...he did not look at the Fall Feasts or the first Spring Feasts of the Lord at all.  He's been totally focused on Feast of Weeks.  His date, calculating out as best he can figure, for Feast of Weeks is (counting off weekly Sabbaths) lands on June 8th, 2025.  This is a Sunday and is approximately 12 Sivan.  (He has Ascension Day as May 29/30 on his list.)

"You shall count seven weeks.  Begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing grain."
run time 9:05

Aaron's date of June 8, 12 Sivan, is on a Sunday.

Petr wrote about Feast of Weeks in this letter:  "the Feast of Weeks begins to be counted from the day when the sickle is first put on the grain."  Deut 16:9  "You shall count seven weeks for yourself; you shall begin to count seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain."  This is the barley.
When is the feast of Pentecost according to the Bible

Well, that adds a new twist on the Feast of Weeks.  The barley harvest in Israel begins in April.

So I looked up when the barley harvest was in Israel 2025.

"It is expected in the next few days, there will be significant amounts of wild Aviv barley in the warmer areas of Israel, including sizeable continuous plots."  This report was made on March 30, 2025 (1 Nisan, 5785).

The barley harvest in Israel was in April.

So do I count seven weeks - just a straight 49 days?  It doesn't mention counting Sabbaths....so if I just count 49 days...IF I add 'several days' to 1 Nisan, and go to 13 Nisan or April 11 to get even more barley in the harvesting stage  (the day before the Weekly Sabbath, as they can't work on the Sabbath)...April 11 plus 49 days is May 30. So 'around' May 30 is Feast of Weeks?   If I added 40 days (as Jesus was seen by them for 40 days) to the day after the Sabbath/after the crucifixion/ April 20, this year, plus 40 equals May 30.  So May 30 is Ascension Day.  Wow.  Don't know if the way I've counted is correct...but it adds up.  Feast of Weeks = Ascension Day.  The same thing could have happened during Jesus' time.  Feast of Weeks = Ascension Day.  Counting from the first day the sickle is put to the barley....Jesus 'ascension' was not on a 'random' day but actually on a Feast of the Lord - it can wok out that way.

On Our Calendar:

As for Ascension Day, it's on our calendar as May 29, 2025.  'Holy Thursday' - held 39 days after Easter Sunday.  Pretty close to my date of May 30, 2025
Ascension Day 2025 - Calendar Date

Day 49 of the Omer Count is June 1, so Feast of Weeks/Shavuot is the next day - June 2.  This is the set day of 6 Sivan for Feast of Weeks/Shavuot.

Feel free to 'correct', add to or change the counting, etc...as I'm just 'guessing' on this date and the correct way to count.  Aaron has all the way out to June 8th, but he didn't look at the barley harvest in Israel, he started counting the 7 weeks (seven sabbaths) after Passover Week.  That may not be the correct way to count...since Deut says to count 7 weeks from the first day of the barley harvest.....

In Conclusion:

It makes sense that Jesus would ascend on a Feast of the Lord - an appointed, prophetic day on God's timeline and not some "random" 40th day.  The Feasts of the Lord are a list of prophetic days - shadows of big things to come - that all point to Christ and are all fulfilled by Christ.  And Ascension Day, as I showed above, could very well have been on Feast of Weeks, as I believe it was.

I am looking towards Ascension Day/Feast of Weeks/Shavuot as a possible Rapture day.  Adding the 40 days to the Sunday after the Resurrection comes to May 30.  Holy Thursday is May 29.  And June 2/3, the 'accepted' day of Shavuot is pretty close.

The date after that I will be watching closely is Pentecost.  That's a whole 'nother way  of counting.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Maranatha!
