Hello Donna Danna, Ted
Porter, John and Doves,
Last week, Donna asked me
'where was the Holy place'?
"So how do you think Luke
21:20 fits in with Matthew 24:15 with the abomination of
desolation standing in "the holy place" since the area
outside of Jerusalem was not considered holy which means the
armies wouldn't be standing on holy ground surrounding
Jerusalem it they are the abomination of desolation?"
Thank you for this
question! We know that the four Gospels are very
similar and parallel versions of each other. Luke 21,
Matthew 24, Mark 13 are about the Olivet Discourse.
They expound on each other, support each other.
I also commented on Ted
Porter's letter from last week - Ted I had to laugh at your
'sacred cow' comment. I
think that's hilarious! Thanks for the laugh. But
you made excellent points.
The Abomination of
Desolation:
Luke told us what Jesus
said, "And when ye shall Jerusalem compassed (encircled,
laid siege to) with armies, then know that the desolation
thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea
flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst
of it depart out; and let not them that are in the country
enter her." (Basically - Flee from Jerusalem and don't
let any Jews enter into that city. All hell is about
to break loose!) Luke 21:20-21
Why? Because the
abomination that causes Jerusalem (the Holy place) to be
desolate is about to happen. Those armies surrounding
Jerusalem aren't there to just stand outside the city - they
are taking over Jerusalem! They will be standing in
the streets of Jerusalem. The Holy city is given over to
them.
They are not invited in by
the Jewish people. There is no seven year peace treaty
that's made with the AC - he and his armies take over; there
is no broken treaty. There is no treaty at all.
The AC is invading. He's taking over. This is an
invasion of the city God. The Holy place IS Jerusalem,
God wrote His name on this city. This is an
abomination. The armies of satan stand in Jerusalem.
Because it's about to be
taken over by the armies of the AC, Jesus tells the people
to get out while they still can. That's what Jesus is
saying to the people. The greatest tribulation of all
time is about to break out.
In Matthew 24: 15 - 21
Jesus said "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of
desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the
holy place (whoso readeth, let him understand:), then let
them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains. Let
him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out
of his house. Neither let him which is in the field
return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them
that are with child...For THEN there shall be great
tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the
world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."
So what was this
'abomination of desolation' spoken of by Daniel? There
isn't just the Antiochus Epiphanes abomination (Daniel 11:29
- 35); Antiochus takes military control of Jerusalem and he
defiles the sanctuary..
And there is this one too where
Jerusalem is taken over militarily - and this prophecy is
for at least two more times of desolation:
'Desolations' is plural - the
city was desolated in 70 AD and it will be again.
Desolations have been decreed by God. I looked up the
Hebrew word 'nehereset' - it has one occurrence "are
determined" - I googled this Hebrew word and it means "the
end of a war that has been fought in vain." So at
least two wars that will be fought in vain will happen to
Jerusalem- the late 60 ADs invasion of Jerusalem
(ending in 70AD) and the AC invasion of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem falls both times to the invaders.
Desolation.

Hebrew Phonetic
Jesus warns the people to
flee when they see these armies surround Jerusalem -
something really bad is about to go down. When the AC
and his armies are in the Holy place - trodding down
Jerusalem. When the AC is given power. When the
two prophets of the Lord are there and start to prophesy.
When the people have fled to where they need to be.
Then Tribulation Period begins. We know exactly how
much time there is for each prophecy - 1,260 days.
And they are all the same time period.
The AC armies move against
Israel - and when the people see from their houses and their
fields that the armies are there...Jesus says flee~
Leave Jerusalem. The AC and his armies are going to
make the city desolate.
Given the above
information - we see that when the AC's armies surround
Jerusalem - the Holy Place, they are MOVING into the
city. Starting with the surrounding of the Holy
place, the invasion of the Holy place and treading down
the Holy place - This is the abomination that causes
desolation.
There is no peace treaty
with the AC - he invades and takes the Holy city -
Jerusalem.
The AC isn't in the temple
declaring himself god - he's about the invade the city and
take over. That's why Jesus says "when you SEE this",
when you see these armies - flee...for the Tribulation
period is about to begin. Nowhere in The Revelation
are we told that the AC declares himself God, nowhere is he
in a temple. He has a 'throne' -- his HQ is in
Jerusalem. But there is no mention of a temple.
This particular invasion
matters, it's a big deal, because this is the AC and satan's
army's invasion of Jerusalem - to stand in the Holy place
and make it desolate. They are bringing the
battle to God and His people. This is THE prophesied
invasion. This is the beginning of the
Tribulation. That's why this "army surrounding
Jerusalem" matters. Jesus, Himself, tells the people
what to do when they see this.
This warning to the
Jews and this telling them where to flee by Jesus is a BIG
deal - the Tribulation is about to
begin!!! Twice in The Revelation Jesus reveals this to
John. Twice we are told that the woman (Israel/the
Jewish people) will flee/fly away. And we are told for
how long.
Jesus reveals this to John
in The Revelation - not once but twice: "And the woman
fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of
God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred
and threescore days (1,260 days) AND "And to the
woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might
fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is
nourished for a time, times and half a time (1,260 days)
from the face of the serpent." Rev 12:6 and Rev 12:14.
Jesus tells them to flee
Jerusalem and leave to the mountains - to the place prepared
for them by God because all hell is about to break loose in
Jerusalem (and the surrounding area).
The AC will take over the
city - his armies will tread it under foot. Jesus tells us
that the Gentiles will take over Jerusalem for forty two
months (1,260 days) In The Revelation, the Lord tells
John to measure the temple and the altar and its
worshipers: "But the court which is without the temple
leave out, and measure it not, for it is given unto the
Gentiles, and the holy city shall be tread underfoot for
forty and two months." Rev 11:2
I see this as: God's temple
is in Heaven. In Revelation 15:5 John wrote, "And
after that I looked, and behold, the temple of the
tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was
opened." There is no temple on Earth for John to
measure. Because no temple has been built - nowhere
are we told about the building of a temple in The
Revelation. There is nothing on earth to measure but
the court on the Temple Mount. All that's there is
what is there now - the Temple Mount and the two
mosques. Nowhere is there a 'building of a temple' or
'a rebuilt temple' in Jerusalem in The Revelation. It
was destroyed in 70AD. And the Gentiles certainly
aren't in Heaven in the temple's outer court - so it seems
to me, this court is on Earth - it's the Temple Mount
area. And the two witnesses aren't mentioned as going
there. There is no mention of a temple at all in
Jerusalem.
Further, for the AC:
"And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things
and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue
forty and two months (1,260 days). Rev 13:5 Once
he's in Jerusalem he's given this power.
At the same time, God send
His two witnesses to counter the AC's great blasphemies -
"And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall
prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days (1,260)
Rev 11:3 If there was a temple in Jerusalem, surely
these prophets would be there at some point prophesying but
there is no mention of a temple.
As Ted Porter put it, there are
several 'sacred cows' of Protestant eschatology. And
the seven year tribulation period is "now preached as the
foundation of the book of Revelation in most Protestant
churches" so it's "the most 'sacred cow' in
Protestantism.." I'd be tossed out as a heretic, for
sure as I think that cow should go out to pasture. As
Gino wrote in a recent letter - can we not ask the question
without being called a heretic?
Chance
– The Rapture IS THAT Close!!
Here are a few of those
'sacred cows' as Ted refers to them.
1) There is a
7 year tribulation period.
2) There is
treaty between the AC and Jews. That the AC breaks
mid-Trib.
3) The AC
declares himself God in the temple dividing the 7 years in
half. And now the Great Tribulation (the
second half) begins.
4) There is a
rebuilt temple.
I am not finding
these anywhere in The Revelation. And as important
as they are to the whole herd of 'sacred cows' for the 7
Year Tribulation - where are they?
These things are all necessary to the 7 year
tribulation. We've been told these things for
decades. We were also told Israel, the fig tree
bloomed in 1948 and 70 years later all the prophecies of
Daniel's 70th week would be fulfilled. Then that
year passed. Then THEY said 71 - 80 years.
Well that's past too. And now, eschatology teachers
no longer even mention Jesus saying 'this generation shall
not pass until all things be fulfilled'. They've
changed the start year 1948 but even that is falling by
the way side. This was also a 'sacred cow' - guess
that cow was put out to pasture. I've got a feeling,
that there will be more cows added to the pasture as time
passes.
The Revelation is THE
written guide book for those in the Tribulation
Period. As Ted pointed out very few people have
actually read The Revelation - they just repeat what they've
read or were told. I believe that those Left Behind in
the U.S. that actually read The Revelation and not Hal
Lindey's "The Late Great Planet Earth" or some such, will be
divinely guided as to its meaning. The Jewish people
will no doubt hear what the two witnesses will be saying in
Jerusalem and there will the 144,000 doing God's will and
people will be directed to The Revelation of Jesus as God
wills.... Those who seek, will find.
My brother is always
pointing out things we talk about as 'salvational' or 'not
salvational' and this is in the 'not' group. These are
just my thoughts...that have evolved over the years.
They are not main stream eschatology. They are just a
blessing to ponder and discuss. As Ted noted, The
Revelation is the only book with a blessing if you read it.
Just some thoughts for
now....
Pray for the peace of
Jerusalem!
Maranatha~
