I remember just after starting college I had an ankle injury and was looking around the room-- there was a Bible on the bedside table. It was the first time I had picked up a Bible and I remember thinking maybe I should investigate. I turned to so-and-so begat so-and-so who begat etc. I put it down after a page of that and thought to myself what's the point?
That was when I was 19 years old. I understand now how important the actual recording of the genealogies in scripture is proof positive of the authenticity of the Bible. Creation was 6 days followed by 1 day of rest. Each Hebrew week is 6 days followed by 1 day of rest, and each Age is 6k years, followed by 1K years of rest. The NT says "a day is as a thousand years and A thousand years is as a day". Basically from Adam to Abraham 2K years. Abraham to Jesus 2K years. Jesus to Jesus and the second coming 2K years. 1K Millennium rest.
