You can put a small hole/ pinhole in one end of the 2 foot long box
and a second small hole on the side of the box to look inside the box.
Being almost dark inside the box will give a better view.
   Now, I'm upgrading the box as I bought a cheap $17 pair of10X25MM
binoculars to tape into one end of the box.
  I also am a welder, so I have a welding hood with a shade 12 welding
lens. Here in San Diego we have only a partial eclipse that will last
about 20 minutes centered at 11:11 am during a sunny day >
