I may have mentioned this before, about Jesus doing something in the last days, to corrupt rich mens' gold.Donna Danna replied, correctly pointing out that gold does not rust, due to its valence electrons.Which is why, when they opened king Tut's tomb, the gold still looked good.And because of this, rich men have trusted in gold for millennia.Yet, Jesus is going to cause something to happen to the gold:
James 5:1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
I Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
Will that be a miraculous plague, like the kinds in Egypt, it doesn't say.But if Jesus was able to walk on water, he can cause non-tarnishable gold to tarnish.
Sulfur oxides, and various acids can corrupt gold surfaces, and the only truly 100% pure gold is in the new Jerusalem.At best, here, there are levels of 9's, like 3 9s pure, 4 9s pure, etc.Or worse yet, 14 K, as compared to 24 K.So, if frogs and flies made it into every home and kitchen, then corrupting agents can make it into vaults.Or Jesus can change the electrochemistry of gold itself, on the earth, so that it could corrupt like iron does.
