The Jews in Israel understood Hebrew:
Acts 21:40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
Acts 22:2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)
The countries round about Israel spoke Greek, and the new testament was written in Greek.
Also, the official language of the military superpower over Israel, was Latin.Which is possibly why that the title on the cross that Pilate had written, was written in all three of these languages.
Luke 23:38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
John 19:20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
I've not been to Israel, but I've read, that many signs in Israel, today, are often in three languages:In Hebrew, for the Jews, but also in Arabic, which is the language of the countries round about Israel & of a number of people in Israel. Then in English, which is the language of the military superpower over Israel, at the moment.
So, in John's day, there were places that were apparently not commonly called by their Hebrew names, so John wrote what the Hebrew names were:
John 19:13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
So, is it possible that there is a place that isn't currently not known by a Hebrew name. That it will be where the world's forces will gather, before they attack Jerusalem.Which would be similar to the Desert Shield gathering in Saudi Arabia, before becoming Desert Storm, as the forces of the world entered Kuwait? So, will the Jews, and particular, Messianic Jews, know about Revelation 16?That they will then call the place, at that time, by a Hebrew name?
Revelation 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
So, that the place will be called that, at that time, based on Revelation 16, rather than a place that has always been called that, like a twist on the name Megiddo?
Also, in our Bible, the place where Jesus was crucified is referenced in those three languages:
John 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
Skull was written in Greek, Strongs 2898 κρανίον, and Golgotha is obviously Hebrew, but then, also:
Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
The word in our Bible, "Calvary", is from the Latin word for skull.Probably not an accident, i.e. again, in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, like the title on the cross.
So, with that in mind, there is the name of the angel of the bottomless pit:
Revelation 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
So, will he also be known, commonly, by a third name, in a third tongue? So will that common name be in Arabic, or English, or less likely Latin? Will that name, in that third tongue, somehow, also identify the beast?
Revelation 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Or, have I again, veered too far off from the beaten path?
