"the 14th day of the first month at even"

And then last Wednesday evening: the 14th day of the first month at even:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

(Tonight, is the passover, and Jews worldwide are celebrating, although they do not yet believe that Jesus fulfilled this feast.)

Exodus 12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

5a Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year:

6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover.

12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.

30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.

(But why kill a lamb for its blood?)

Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

(They were warned, but ate it anyway, and no doubt feared for their lives when the LORD came:)

Genesis 3:6d  she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

8b  and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

(But instead of them dying that day, the LORD provided a substitutionary sacrifice in their place:)

21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

(The LORD shed innocent lambs' blood in their place, which was also necessary to clothe them with the lambs' skins:)

Proverbs 27:26a The lambs are for thy clothing,

(No doubt, Abel heard Adam speak of this, and knew the LORD looks for the innocent lambs' blood, but Cain came by his works:)

Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

(Why is blood so important to the LORD, especially man's blood?)

Genesis 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

(Whether he realized it or not, Abraham prophesied that the LORD himself would be the ultimate, sacrificed Lamb, himself.)

Genesis 22:8a And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering:

(So, Israel, after leaving Egypt, received the law at Sinai, and they were told that the covenant is a blood covenant:)

Exodus 24:8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

(They were then told that the blood was the only way that atonement could be made for them:)

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

(About thousand years before the crucifixion, David prophesied about Jesus' bloody sacrifice on the cross:)

Psalm 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

(About 700 years before the crucifixion, Isaiah also prophesied about Jesus' bloody sacrificial death:)

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

(Jesus told his disciples, but they did not understand until after it happened:)

Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

(They meant it wrong, but many of them, their children, & descendants, especially at the end, would be covered by Jesus's blood:)

Matthew 27:25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

(Even in the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus had apparently begun to bleed:)

Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

(Earlier, at the start of Jesus' ministry, when John said Jesus was the Lamb of God, did all the old testament scriptures about the blood of the lamb, come back to their minds?)

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

(Even after Jesus had died, he was still pierced, and the remaining blood came out with water:)

John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

(The blood that came out the wounds on Jesus, is God's own blood, pure and holy, not the blood of a sinful man, like us.)

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

(Only the blood of his Son, pacifies the wrath of the Father, towards our sins:)

Romans 3:25a Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,

(We are justified before our holy, righteous God, by the blood of his sacrifice:)

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

(We are redeemed through his blood, and only through his blood, is their forgiveness of sins:)

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

(Even us Gentiles are able to approach the God of Israel, by the blood that he shed on the cross:)

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

(Only through his blood is there peace for us:)

Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

20a And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,

(Jesus took on a body with blood, that he could die in our place, to destroy the devil:)

Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

(Jesus entered the holiest in heaven, by his own blood, and now purges our conscience by that same blood:)

Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

(The blood of the animals cannot take away the sins of those sacrificing them:)

Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

(Now we also can enter into the holy presence of the LORD, by his blood:)

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

(However, it is a frightening thing to ignore, look down on, or mock the blood of Jesus:)

Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

(Jesus also sanctifies by his blood:)

Hebrews 13:12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

(The precious blood Jesus, the Lamb of God, and only his blood, redeems us, nothing else, including all our works:)

I Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

(Jesus' blood cleans us and washes us from sin:)

I John 1:7b  and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Revelation 1:5b Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

(Joh saw Jesus in heaven, as the Lamb that had been slain, who had redeemed those worshipping him, by his blood:)

Revelation 5:6a And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain,

  9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

(Many more still will be washed in the blood of the Lamb:)

Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

(The devil is overcome by the blood of the Lamb:)

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

(Jesus returns from heaven with a vesture dipped in that same blood that he took there, the same blood that he shed:)

Revelation 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

(Throughout eternity, our relationship with Jesus, will be as the Lamb:)

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Revelation 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

(So, the blood of the Lamb is something to always remember, especially on Passover.)
