Dear FiveDoves,
The True Days of
the Week leading to the Resurrection
With a careful study
of the Bible, it has become apparent to me that the
widely taught days of the week leading to the
resurrection are in contradiction to the Bible. The
following is my reasoning for believing that this is the
case…
The mathematically precise narrative is as follows:
The mathematically precise narrative is as follows:
- Nisan 9, Thursday evening to Friday evening: Jesus anointed for His burial by Mary. John 12:1-3 outlines that this occurred 6 days before Passover. Nisan 15 (Passover) – 6 days = Nisan 9
- Nisan 10, Friday evening to Saturday evening: Jesus enters Jerusalem and is selected by the Jewish people as the Perfect Lamb for the sacrifice. John 12:12-16 outlines that this occurred the day after Jesus’ anointing, or Nisan 10. Exodus 12:3-5 outlines that Nisan 10 is the specific day that this had to occur.
- Nisan 11 - 13, Saturday evening to Tuesday evening: Three full Hebrew days in Jerusalem preaching
- Nisan 14, Tuesday evening until 11pm: Passover dinner with His disciples
- Nisan 14, Tuesday 11pm until Wednesday 1am: Arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane
- Nisan 14, Wednesday 1am until 8am: Trial after trial, false witnesses
- Nisan 14, Wednesday 8am until 9am: Beaten and whipped 39 times
- Nisan 14, Wednesday 9am until 3pm: Put on the cross until His death
- Nisan 14, Wednesday 3pm until just before Wednesday evening (twilight): Removed from the cross and placed into a burial place for a rich man. This had to be completed by twilight of Nisan 14 to fulfill Exodus 12:6.
- Nisan 15, Wednesday evening to Thursday sunrise: Passover Shabbat! Night 1 in the grave
- Nisan 15, Thursday sunrise to Thursday evening: Passover Shabbat! Day 1 in the grave
- Nisan 16, Thursday evening to Friday sunrise: Feast of First Fruits Shabbat! Night 2 in the grave
- Nisan 16, Friday sunrise to Friday evening: Feast of First Fruits Shabbat! Day 2 in the grave
- Nisan 17, Friday evening to Saturday sunrise: Seventh Day Shabbat! Night 3 in the grave
- Nisan 17, Saturday sunrise to Saturday evening: Seventh Day Shabbat! Day 3 in the grave
- Nisan 18, Saturday evening to Sunday sunrise: HE HAS RISEN!
- Nisan 18, Sunday sunrise: Women surprised by Jesus at His grave
- Nisan 18, Sunday afternoon: Jesus comes and sees the disciples. All but Thomas is there. Jesus would come back and show ‘Doubting Thomas’ a week later. His teaching for forty days started during this period
- Nisan 9, Saturday evening to Sunday evening: PALM SUNDAY! Jesus enters Jerusalem and is selected by the Jewish people as the Perfect Lamb for the sacrifice.
- Nisan 10 - 13, Sunday evening to Thursday evening: Four full Hebrew days in Jerusalem preaching
- Nisan 14, Thursday evening until 2am on Friday morning: Passover dinner with His disciples. Arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane.
- Nisan 14, 2am on Friday morning until just before Friday evening (twilight): Trial after trial, false witnesses. Beaten and whipped 39 times. Forced to carry His cross to Golgotha. Put on the cross until His death. Removed from the cross and placed into a burial place for a rich man.
- Nisan 15, Friday evening to Saturday sunrise: Passover Shabbat! Night 1 in the grave
- Nisan 15, Saturday sunrise to Saturday evening: Passover Shabbat! Day 1 in the grave
- Nisan 16, Saturday evening to Sunday sunrise: Night 2 in the grave
- Nisan 16, Sunday sunrise: HE HAS RISEN! Women surprised by Jesus at His grave
- Nisan 16, Sunday afternoon: Jesus comes and sees the disciples. All but Thomas is there. He would come back and show ‘Doubting Thomas’ a week later
- Saturday: Jesus enters Jerusalem. Not applicable
- Sunday: Preaching. Jesus enters Jerusalem
- Monday: Preaching. Preaching.
- Tuesday: Preaching / Passover Meal in evening. Preaching.
- Wednesday: Death of Jesus, put in grave. Preaching.
- Thursday: Jesus in grave. Preaching / Passover Meal in evening.
- Friday: Jesus in grave. Death of Jesus, put in grave.
- Saturday: Jesus in grave. Jesus in grave.
- Sunday: He has risen! He has risen
- The Bible painstakingly indicated MANY times that Jesus would be in the grave for three days and three nights. If Jesus died just before nightfall on the Friday as is widely preached, we would have Friday night, Saturday day and Saturday night with Him in the grave. This is 1 day and 2 nights. This is then somehow rationalized that Friday, Saturday and Sunday each count as 1 day and 1 night each. However, a 36-hour period is very different from a 72-hour period (3 days and 3 nights) and also contradicts the Bible.
I should note
that I am NOT the only one who believes in this
corrected timeline. Still, each person should
convince themselves and be excellent students and
Bereans...
Much love
& blessings to all of you, MathMan
