Was what happened to young Samuel, kind of a picture of what happened to us?

I Samuel 3:1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

Most of us, when we were lost, had very little Bible preaching or Bible reading.

It was not part of our lives.

I Samuel 3:4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

Like Jesus said:

Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

He comes calling us, when we were not even necessarily thinking about him.

I Samuel 3:7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.

Like Samuel, we did not yet know Jesus, nor was his word yet revealed to us.

I Samuel 3:21 And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.

But then, like what happened with Samuel, Jesus revealed himself to us by his word, when the gospel came to us.
