"look up our redemption draws near."

G-d is waiting for us to come back to Him, and what better time than the present, when we are being forced to realize that there is nothing of a physical nature that we can do to remedy the situation, and all that there is left to do is to return to our spiritual roots and to embrace the Torah and its commandments.
And maybe if we can exert that final effort of pushing ourselves back to G-d, then He will put an end to all the ?birth pangs? and deliver the Messiah that we've all been waiting for.

isaiah 26:1-21 should read the whole scripture , here are the last two chapters.
19Your dead will live; their bodies will rise.
Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust!
For your dew is like the dew of the morning,
and the earth will bring forth her dead.
20Go, my people, enter your rooms
and shut your doors behind you.
Hide yourselves a little while
until the wrath has passed.
21For behold, the LORD is coming out of His dwelling
to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity.
The earth will reveal her bloodshed
and will no longer conceal her slain.

Psalm 12:1
Help, O LORD, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men.
Isaiah 57:1 1The righteous perish,
and no one takes it to heart;
devout men are swept away,
while no one considers
that the righteous are guided
from the presence of evil.
2Those who walk uprightly enter into peace;
they find rest, lying down in death.
