Israeli lunar lander slips into orbit around the moon

4 April 2019 Astronomy Now

Doves may be aware that Israel is on the verge of landing a spacecraft on the Moon (on 11 April 2019).  Very interesting timing with the imminent Israel elections and Passover drawing nigh.  Some excerpts from an Astronomy Now article are below, as well as a link to the full articles.  Another sign in the sky!!

The Israel Beresheet lander is now in orbit round the moon. Credit: SpaceIL  Israel’s Beresheet spacecraft, launched in February as a secondary payload aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, and braked into orbit around the moon 4 April, one week before a planned landing attempt 11 April on Mare Serenitatis.

Beresheet (Hebrew for Genesis) - is the first non-superpower, privately-funded spacecraft to attempt a moon landing. If successful, Israel, through the non-profit SpaceIL and spacecraft builder Israel Aerospace Industries, will become only the fourth nation to send an operational spacecraft to the surface of the moon.  Link to article below,
