There is a minor commandment, one of the 613 commandments (mitsvoh) in the Torah. This is called The Counting of the Omer. In days of old in Israel, an omer was a particular measure of grain. There were many grain sacrifices, of different amounts, offered at the 2 Temples at Jerusalem. From Nisan 1 until Pentecost (Shavuot), the grain of the omer was barley, the first of the grain annual harvests in Israel. Barley was mature to harvest at The Feast of First Fruits, about Nisan 17-18. The duration of the omer count? It was 50 days, ending on Pentecost. Then and now, the daily counting up is symbolic of a process of spiritual ascent. SPIRITUALLY RISING IN FAITH. The pilgrims needed to ASCEND to Jerusalem. The count includes 7 weeks plus a day. Daily and weekly the anticipation, excitement, and preparation builds up for the honoring and observing Pentecost! So these are simple yet valuable preparations which help someone to truly and simply really value Pentecost! The Messiah must have done this minor commandment in the Torah! In doing this simple thing daily, a person follows His example. There is a chart for 2018 at www.torahcalender.com to use. Here is an example for 4-16. Today is Day 14 of The Counting of the Omer, Week 3 and Day 2. The chart makes it easy to do. And a joy.
On the Torah Calendar in 2018, Omer Day 1 on Nisan 16 was 4-3 and Pentecost (Shavuot) will be 5-21 to 22. The Hillel Calendar is 2 days earlier, at 4-1 and then 5-19 to 20. One of these calendars is correct and the TRUTH. Will The Blessed Hope be after The Second Passover and before Pentecost in 2018? If so, who will be left on Planet Earth to fulfill the commandment to COUNT THE OMER ALL 50 DAYS? The 2 Witnesses? We shall see.
With Love and Shalom,
Jean
