Shelly,Clearly you are not a compromiser when it comes to sin.If things are to go as you have described it, then the net needs to be drawn wider.
Romans 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Far too many of us who profess the name of Jesus, also watch tv & movies, and perhaps music videos.Enjoying a show or a movie, where someone murders or commits adultery, would put us on the guilty side of this scripture. Also, there is:
Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Does loving a lie include loving fiction, including fairy tales? What about actors who pretend to be someone they are not? What about excitement over politicians whom we know are lying to us?What about telling our children that Santa Claus, rather than Jesus, knows when they have been bad or good?Far too many of us who profess the name of Jesus, secretly or outwardly love a lie, or more than one.
In regards to coveting, you had mentioned, "This has to do with having an uncontrollable desire to possess a certain thing."Coveting is not necessarily always uncontrollable, as it is not always sin:
I Corinthians 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
I Corinthians 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
However, the vast majority of the times it is mentioned, it regarding sinful coveting.I would venture that many of us, especially American Christians, desire to possess things. After all Madison Avenue, and most advertising, is centered around generating that desire in our hearts.I think that too many of us that profess the name of Jesus, covet in our hearts, but have learned to "hold it in".Then there is:
Matthew 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Since I have been saved, I have only met one man who said that he is no longer guilty of this, and he was fairly young, as well.So unless the physical act is the "mortal sin", but the "in the heart" is only a "venial sin", all but a handful of men are guilty. Then there is:
Matthew 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
The part about saying, "Thou fool", covers most everyone these days, including between married couples about each other. Then if fornication includes pleasing one's self, then all but the fewest of men are guilty.Yes, many confess it, but then according to their libido cycle, they sin again and again and again.
So, considering everything, then 99.999999 % of men will go to hell, and also a very large portion of women will go to hell.I can say that I have never met anyone, who professes the name of Jesus, that is not guilty of some of what was mentioned. That would mean that I have never met anyone who is going to heaven.Do you know anyone who is worthy to still go to heaven?Shelly, are you worthy?
