This holiday is considered by some a festival that also celebrates the downfall of Adolf Hitler.Adolph Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945, at 3:30 p.m. This is also the 17th of Iyar 5705. His body was set on fire in the late afternoon and burned until dusk. The 18th of Iyar which is Lag B'Omer, therefore, marks the end of the Hitler era.(1)
