When you were a child, I loved you as a son, and I called you, my son, out of the world. But the more I called to you, the more you rebelled, offering sacrifices to the god of this world and incense to idols. It was I who taught you how to walk, leading you by the hand. But you don't know or even care that it was I who took care of you. I led you along with my ropes of kindness and love. I lifted the burden from your neck, and I Myself stooped to feed you.
