Parcival...
Thank you for your comments. We are all in different stages of growth in our Christian walk. Never feel bad of where you are in relation to anyone else. Otherwise pride comes in and we fall.
I would like to clarify a couple of comments you made and hopefully you can grow even more in the Lord, as that's what the Master wants. Iron sharpens iron...so to speak.
You said that Christ is 100% submitted to the Father and that's good enough for you. Yes and No. Because Christ overcame the world, if we submit totally to His will, then we can also. Gal 5:16 says "Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh". The key to victorious living is us going along with the plan and leading of the Spirit.
Parcival...do we yet sin? Yes....hence although Christ fulfilled His calling to die in our place, yet we have a job also. That is to obey, submit and repent....as you said you do.
You said it's the old man that wants to be 100% perfect. That is 100% wrong. The Bible says in Rom 3:11 that "No man seeks after God". Also in Psalms 14:1-4. It's God that seeks after us. To show us our sin and lead us into righteousness through Jesus' shed blood. The old man only seeks after carnal things because it doesn't comprehend the things of the Spirit.
Everything from the Kingdom of God starts with Him. We have to be the ones to be willing to admit our sin and repent of it.
There is a misunderstanding with many in the Christian community that somehow believe that once we ask for forgiveness of sin and are accepted by God, that the work is all over. Not true. If we are sensitive to the Spirit, the Lord will gather us under His wings and lead us as the good Shepherd. If we rebel, He will come looking for us and bring us again into the flock and lead us once again into repentance. But....if we won't submit to His correction, He will let us go. Example....If a Christian continues to gossip, or lives in fornication, or refuses to obey, that soul can be lost. Don't be deceived. For what a man sows, that he will also reap. Without HOLINESS, NO MAN WILL SEE GOD. Hebrews 12:14. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Phil 2:12. Math 7:19 and John 15:6 say that if we do not abide in Him...we will be thrown into the fire.
We as a people have watered down the scriptures so much that God would never use judgement on His own. That view scripture doesn't support. 2 Peter 2:21 and Mathew 5:22 both tell a different story. Not all will be overcomers. Mathew 7:14 says that narrow is the gate and path that lead to heaven and "FEW BE THOSE THAT FIND IT".
Sound scary.....yes and no. No if we ask the Lord to keep us and we are willing to be obedient and love His commandments but yes if the world is still very inticing to us.
Parcival....I know I gave you more than what you commented on. I went on a tangent. Not for your sake but the sake of those that might read and never respond.
Blessings on you brother. Keep reading His word and always be in prayer. Psalms chapter 1.
