"To Barry A. and Denis
H. on western Israelis (lost tribes)"
I read with great interest your letter, Barry,
tracing back to posts by Denis, on the so-called "lost tribes of
Israel" as being
the western nations (i.e., England, US, and (earlier) those who
lived along the Danube, having migrated from the Middle East,
and half-forgetting their roots. You say God condemned
Israel to forget who she was, while the southern half of His
people, the Jews, remembered and were a "light to the nations"
through their scriptures.
It is true that "most" scholars think the "lost tribes" theory
is nothing but horse feathers, but I am more and more convinced
of its truth. I am one of those, perhaps, who in the
latter days "awoke" and saw her heritage. This heritage is
so complex that there is not enough space to adequately
delineate it here, but it seems to apply to me in several
ways. And I am, in my outward visage, a typical descendant
of England, Scotland, and Ireland, not a Israelite or Jew....but
wait!
My Scots ancestors, including in particular some families who
were landowners in southern and middle Scotland in the Middle
Ages,
claimed to have descent from a specific place in the Black Sea
area, which they wrote about in the Treaty of Abroath in the
14th century. My "kinsman" Eustace Maxwell was a signer of
the Treaty of Abroath. This area where they came from is
as you describe it, but not all of these people came via the
Danube route to the West. Some of them (particularly those
who passed into and through Ireland), migrated over hundreds of
years from that Black Sea area across Africa and into Spain and
finally to the "promised land" in Ireland. Apparently this
migration went over centuries, with some being forerunners, and
others knowing the tales of that promised land to the West, and
finally managing the step of traveling from Spain to
Ireland. And from Ireland some went on to Scotland, then
back to Scotland when religious intolerance arose, and then on
to the further West, America, when religious intolerance again
arose.
As I have noted before on Doves, I recently had my DNA
haplogroup typed, because I am a member of a group of people in
whom some scientists were interested, and it is J1c2b, which
goes back to prophetic Israel times, and is at its fullest level
in Ireland (11% of Irish, the largest contingent of J1c in
Europe). However, the haplogroup does take in "Arabs" from
that time as well, which seems reasonable, since Abram/Abraham
came from what we call Iraq today. This is my mother's
haplogroup, and she was as pure "Irish" as you can get, by
modern standards, descending from Irish immigrants in America
100% for four generations.
(These people were clannish!)
My Scots family, on my father's side, were those lowland Scots
who signed the Treaty of Abroath, and they must have taken the
Danube trail, coming from central Europe and France to England
on their way to Scotland. They seem to have been, in part,
"hidden Jews", which is hinted at by their names of Perez, Eli,
and so forth (see a strange little-admired book "When Scotland
Was Jewish", which claims the family who became the Royal
Stewarts were also "hidden Jews", as were many of the lowland
Scots.) My family came to England and then Scotland WITH
that family who became the Royal Stewarts...they were
"followers"
of the Stewarts, fanatical followers, one might say, who gave up
land and lives to defend the Stewart clan from the English
tyrants. Did they know they were hidden Jews? I
certainly don't know, but the persistence of Jewish names among
them (Perez,
Eli, Elias) makes one wonder. If they had hidden
knowledge, why did it evaporate? Was it from English
tyranny? This is a mystery, for sure! This family,
whether of partial Jewish descent or not, were Christian, and
donated (on record) to the Templar (Cistercian) Abbeys of
Paisley and Melrose. What a mystery--wish I knew more of
it!
As for my English one-fourth, I can trace no Jews, hidden or
otherwise, among them.
The same people who wrote "When Scotland was Jewish" also have
written about the hidden Jews of the land of New Mexico,
where I live now. This is a well-known fact, unearthed in
the 20th century, that probably ALL of the original Spanish
settlers of
New Mexico were "hidden Jews", or Maranos, who escaped first
from Spain to Mexico, and then along the dusty trail north to
Santa Fe and other parts of this land, which once took in
Arizona as well. The names of the people here in the Santa
Fe area
who go back to the original Hispanics tells the story of their
heritage--Isaac, Ruben, Abraham, Rebecca, Rachel, Sarah, Jacob,
Daniel...but these people probably were not originally "Israel",
by your standards, Barry, but "Judah", don't you think? I
am not
sure who the Spanish and Portuguese Jews descended from, and I
know there was a lot of conversion to Judaism in Spain and
Portugal, especially in the 9th century, but they must have some
"Judah" in them. You see, I told you it is very
complex.
These are not MY family, but I know so many of them here in the
Santa Fe area. Most of them are still Catholics, but some
are
Evangelicals, such as the founders of Son Broadcasting, our
local Christian TV station.
It is mind-boggling to know that the FIRST capitol of what
became the United States, that is, Santa Fe, was colonized by
"hidden
Jews" of Hispanic origin. Santa Fe was founded before any
capitol in New England. Prince Felipe and his wife
Princess Letizia
came here from Spain for the Four Hundredth Anniversary of the
founding of Santa Fe a few years ago.
Of course some, if not most, of these "original families"
intermarried, eventually, with the local Indians, so few are
"purebred", but some are. Those who are from the original
families are usually pale, with black hair, like the "dark
Irish."
I am therefore interested in your accounting of our present
history and how it affects attacks on the U.S. as an extension
of Israel.
How strange and awful to contemplate this judgement
coming! It is a heavy burden one can hardly bear.
Only hope of salvation in Jesus, and rescue by Him, can make it
bearable.
I don't have any understanding of the background of the
President, which you delineate, Denis, with his heritage in
Hawaii, etc.
This could all be true as well, but I don't follow it. I
have lived extensively in Hawaii, and I love it, but I don't
understand this part of it. I know that Obama's mother,
Sidney Ann Dunham, came from a part of Washington State where I
too lived. She went to
high school a half a mile from where I lived in Washington
State, and also went to the University of Washington, as I did,
but after my time. She went to the same liberal church
east of Seattle, with her family, where I met my husband a few
years after Obama was born. So I feel HER history too.
This is a long story, but it makes sense to me. But not
complete sense. I alone in my family have recognized that
I may descend from Israel and from Jews. No one else
either of previous generations, or of my generation, or of my
son and grandsons' generations, realizes this. None of
them "woke up", as you describe it, Barry.
