TO BARRY AMUNDSEN(RE: Barry Amundsen (4 Apr 2012)
"Patti C and Michael Colunga "adding to this book")Hello Barry,
Thank you for your letter and your suggestions in regards to further study. I did not object so much to what you were defending, in your posts to me, as to the way in which you defended it. There certainly was no need to question my intelligence, and absolutely no reason to question my walk with Christ, or my relationship with the Holy Spirit. And you did all three! I did not respond because I did not have anything nice to say, and have learned, the hard way, to ignore personal assumptions of the people who disagree. But, yes it was offensive, and it did hurt.
That being said, it is rather interesting that we were actually coming from the same place, in regards to why we wrote our letters. I put my complete trust in Christ and the Holy Spirit and never in the opinions of man!! It was the Holy Spirit that directed me to ask those questions in the first place.
I could have used your exact words to defend where I was coming from, and was glad to hear you use them in your own defense. Here are your words:
“For this reason, I speak up and make my views heard because I have confidence in the one who has taught me (The Holy Spirit). As Paul said when confronted by the Jewish leaders he gave place to them by reason of submission, no not for an hour. Why? Because he was taught by the Holy Spirit and was not going to let men change what he got from God. How's that for bold?”
I feel just like you do on what I feel is Holy Spirit inspired, and sometimes I can be very bold in defense of that.
It is nice to know there is one point on which we agree, and stand on common ground. Thank you for your letter, it helped me to be more interested in what you were trying to convey, and look into it.
Just for the record, I am 60 years old, I have been a born-again, and Holy Spirit filled Christian since 1978…which is almost 34 years. When I first accepted Christ, I sold everything I owned and literally picked up my cross and followed Him, and I continue up that narrow path, to this day.
Everything we need to know Christ will reveal to us, the things of God are not hidden, although there are some hidden treasures to find, there are no hidden truths that have to do with our salvation, justification or glorification.
Satan is the one that is all about hidden knowledge, and secret things…fruit of the tree of good and evil, and the secrets of becoming a god. God reveals and Satan conceals…just as light reveals and darkness conceals. It a fine line and one we need to take care not to cross.
It is only by the Grace of God, that anyone of us is saved!!!
May the Lord Bless and keep you!
Patti C.
