"Mathman, Arlene, Patti C - Book of Enoch"

Several years ago, the Book of Enoch was discussed on "Prophecy in the News".  JR Church and Gary Stearman, produced a DVD commentary on the book.  I don't have the DVD, but I did see some of their TV programs on this subject.  They believe that some parts of the Book of Enoch are authentic, but there appear to be other parts of it that were written by a different author.  In their commentary they discuss the authentic parts of the book and the parts they feel have been corrupted.  I believe that JR Church, who passed away last year, and Gary Stearman are very conscientious and sincere in their teachings.

I have a book titled "The Dead Sea Scrolls Translated", written by Florentino Garcia Martinez.  It contains translations of fragments found in the caves at Qumron, near the Dead Sea.  I have also read the Book of Enoch online.  I've found the Book of Enoch and other apocryphal books to be very helpful in giving me a greater understanding of the Bible and history.

Below is a link to the website that has the Book of Enoch.  This site also has other Jewish and Old Testament books.

If you're in doubt about the Book of Enoch or any other books that were not included in the Canon, I hope you will read the articles on Wikipedia that tell when our Bible was actually canonized.  Our Bible has been changed several times.  Books have been removed and some books, that we still have, were almost removed.  The book of Revelation almost didn't make it into the canon because it is an apocryphal writing.

Dating the Bible
The oldest surviving Hebrew Bible manuscripts date to about the 2nd century BCE (fragmentary), the oldest record of the complete text survives in a Greek translation called the Septuagint, dating to the 4th century CE (Codex Sinaiticus) and the oldest extant manuscripts of the vocalized Masoretic text upon which modern editions are based date to the 9th century CE.

Considering the fact that early Christians accepted some of these books, I can't agree that they should have been removed hundred of years later by men who are certainly capable of making mistakes.

Keep in mind that Satan has tried to corrupt humans from the beginning.  There is a war going on.  He has also infiltrated the churches and synagogues and the true word of God.  There is evidence of this when you realize that books, that were for a very long time accepted by Jews and Christians, were taken from us.  Also, think of all the books, written by Gnostic Christians, that contain heretical teachings.

Jesus and the Disciples warned of false prophets and false teachers.  Below are five references warning about false prophets adding things to God's word, taking away from God's word, and corrupting God's word.  Jesus warned of it and it was happening when the disciples were still alive and it has continued to this day.

Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Galations 2:4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

Galations 1
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Revelation 22
18
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Recently, I read the following headline on another website and I've provided a link to it.  It's just another example of men removing God's word from the bible.

Lost In Translation: Keep "Father" & "Son" in the Bible
Western missions agencies Wycliffe, Frontiers and SIL are producing Bibles that remove Father, Son and Son of God because these terms are offensive to Muslims.

I hope my links work.  I think I've finally learned how to create them.
