Robert,
I don't know about Nicodemus but Jesus said; John the Baptist was Elias the one prophesied to come to prepare the way of the Lord. Check the spelling. Elias was Elijah.
1 Kings 21:17 "And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite," I use the KJV.
Matthew 11:12-14 “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.”
Matthew 16:14 “And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.”
Matthew 17:3-4 “And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.”Maybe Nicodemus is referring to the time when Christ came the first time. All those that were raised from the dead after Jesus arose also went with him into heaven when he went into the clouds into heaven.
John the Revelator said that many Antichrists had arisen. So who is the Antichrist? One who does not believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came to save us and live in us eternally. I'm a WHOSOEVER, HOW 'BOUT YOU?
John 3:15-16 "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Ezekiel 37:12 "Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel."
Matthew 27:52-53 "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many."
This would most certainly include Elijah, and Moses, and Daniel, and Ezra, and Adam, and Ezekiel, and Isaiah, last but not least, Abraham, etc.......
I am still convinced that Jesus and John the Baptist were the two witness and the two golden candlesticks that emptied their golden oil out. John the Baptist was killed shortly before Jesus was crucified.
That golden oil represented the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb. Jesus was the Holy Spirit that gave up his earthly body so he could indwell the 120 at Pentecost. He said He had to go away so that the Comforter could come. The Comforter was the Holy Spirit poured out at Pentecost.
May you all be blessed, jfh
