Thank you for the reply. When you mentioned the rebellion of Lucifer, and that struggle of a large portion of the angelic hosts against the LORD and his angels, I realized that I'm not sure where that rebellion all took place. Clearly some of it was in the third heaven. How much happened in the 2nd heaven I do not know for sure. How much happened on earth - I don't know - however, some of them were chained up deep down in the earth.

But as to Satan thinking that he owned the earth:

Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Deuteronomy 10:14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

I Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

Daniel 4:25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

Psalm 89:11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.

And just because Satan said to Jesus:

Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

doesn't mean that it was true - the devil is a liar:

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Eve & Adam learned the hard way, that the words of Satan should not be trusted.
