Tom,It may well be that Gog is fallen angelic prince over Meshech and Tubal, the power behind the man that leads the armies of the group of nations that attack Israel in Ezekiel 38 & 39. Gog is called the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
Ezekiel 38:2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
Ezekiel 39:1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
Also, Michael is called one of the chief princes:
Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Michael is the angelic chief prince who stands for Israel.
Daniel 10:21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
There are couple other angelic princes that are mentioned in the scriptures as well (it appears that these two are fallen angelic beings like Gog):
Daniel 10:20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
I had written a letter to FiveDoves regarding looking at Gog from the perspective of the fallen angelic prince, and the human leader that is empowered by him:
