my only additional comment is that one of the most prominent or memorable features of the 'event' was the distinct feeling of my feet hanging over the edge of this abyss, which I mention in the account. I clearly felt the rock edge under my feet, about a third of the way back. so, about the front third of my feet was hanging over the edge. 

I think this was a spiritually significant detail. not only was I at the Edge of something - in fact, I was beyond the edge! My sense of it was that whatever the edge represented, whether "time", "earthly events", prophetic happenings" etc, I (we?) had actually gone beyond whatever border had been established -by a slight margin.
