"Extraordinary Dream
Detail: The Vial of Lavender Oil"
The Vial of Lavender Oil
In the dream of April 12, 2012, the strangest detail (to me) was
the part about the vial of lavender oil. In the dream scenario,
this was clearly associated with the death of a Christian.
The Bible actually confirms this as a type.
Lavender is mentioned in the Bible five times, but it is called
Spikenard
In the New Testament it is found in this 'memorial" passage
about the alabaster box that is broken -
from Mark 14:3
"And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat
at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box oof ointment
of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it
on his head."
and
from John 12:3
"Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard very costly,
and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her
hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment"
After she is rebuked by Judas and others for the seemingly
costly waste, the Lord Jesus comes swiftly to her defense with
this statement from Mark 14:8-9 ...
"She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint
my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this
gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also
that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her."
I take that as an exciting Bible confirmation of a specific
detail in the dream. Lavendar is associated with death (of the
Lord).
it is also noteworthy that the three Old Testament verses that
contain Spikenard' are all in the book of the Bride, the Song of
Solomon (Songs).
