Why Christians Don’t Believe in “Luck”.

“Luck” or fate and destiny are grounded in “chance”. Chance ignores the ever present plan and working of God, the God of Truth. In the New King James Isaiah 65:11 says:

Isaiah 65:11 "But you are those who forsake the LORD,

Who forget My holy mountain,

Who prepare a table for Gad,

And who furnish a drink offering for Meni.

The New Living Testament renders Gad and Meni as Fate and Destiny.

Isaiah 65:9 I will preserve a remnant of the people of Israel and of Judah to possess my land. Those I choose will inherit it and serve me there. 11 "But because the rest of you have forsaken the LORD and his Temple and worship the gods of Fate and Destiny, 12 I will 'destine' you to the sword. All of you will bow before the executioner, for when I called, you did not answer. When I spoke, you did not listen. You deliberately sinned — before my very eyes — and chose to do what you know I despise."

16 All who invoke a blessing or take an oath will do so by the God of truth. For I will put aside my anger and forget the evil of earlier days.

God is in charge. He alone knows and has control over all things past, present and future. The volume of the book speaks to this. Here are just a few examples.

Isaiah 55:8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD.

9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

So are My ways higher than your ways,

And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Psalm 139: O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit down or stand up.You know my every thought when far away. 3 You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest.Every moment you know where I am. 4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. 5 You both precede and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,too great for me to know!

16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.   NLT

Proverbs 16:1 We can gather our thoughts, but the LORD gives the right answer.

2 People may be pure in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their motives.

3 Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed.

4 The LORD has made everything for his own purposes, even the wicked for punishment.

9 We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

25 There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.

33 We may throw the dice, but the LORD determines how they fall.   NLT
