"drunk"

In Revelation 17:2, it says the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of the whore’s fornication.

In Revelation 17:6, it says that the whore was drunken with the blood of the saints and martyrs of Jesus.

When someone is drunk, they are under the influence.

They walk differently, talk differently, act differently, and do not think or see clearly.

That is when people end up doing things they’ll regret later.

Their inhibitions are lowered, on one hand are easily seduced, and on the other they can easily turn violent.

Are these the kinds of things that may be going on here, why the drunk & drunken are used?

What does it mean to be drunk with the wine of the whore’s fornication?

What does it mean to be drunken with the blood of saints and martyrs of Jesus?
