"RE: David W: 09.13.14: If you don't love me"

David,

I would like to propose that not all the born again Christians, who don’t exclusively worship on the sabbath, are guilty of not loving Jesus.

There are a large number of born again Christians who don’t exclusively worship on the sabbath.

I would propose that this does not automatically prove that they do not love Jesus.

In the new testament, Jesus indicated even a stricter understanding than the old testament understanding of those he spoke with.

For example, regarding the commandment to not commit adultery:

Matthew 5:27 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

The understanding was no longer to be simply not “going all the way” with the woman, but not even lusting after her in the heart.

That is how we are to now understand this in the new testament.

Then like the old testament tithe, where 10% was the LORD’s and the 90% was theirs.

In the new testament, everything is the LORD’s, even the believer is bought with a price.

So that all we have is his, whether we give it or keep it, and all of it, whatever we do with it, is to be to his glory.

I Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

So whatever we do, including the tithe, beyond the tithe, or below the tithe, we are to do it heartily as unto the Lord:

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Also, the old testament understanding was that certain creatures were unclean to eat, like the swine.

Then in the new testament all things were now clean to eat:

Acts 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

Also in:

I Timothy 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

The old testament understanding was that six days was for them, for their work, but the seventh day was for the LORD.

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

They were to understand the difference between their 6 days, and the LORD’s sabbath:

Ezekiel 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.

The sabbath was to be kept holy, but their six days could remain profane.

However, now in the new testament, all seven days are the LORD’s.

Every day, whatever we do, we should do all to the glory of God, and heartily as unto the Lord.

Every day should be kept holy for the born again Christian, it wouldn’t be right if we had 6 unholy days every week, now.

Therefore, since all seven days should be kept holy, and all done to the glory of God and heartily as unto the Lord, then no day should be less holy.

If no day is less holy to the born again Christian than the other six, then no day is holier than the other six, either.

Albeit, not every believer thinks this way, so they still esteem one day above the others, as in the old testament:

Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

So if the born again Christian is keeping all seven days holy, then I propose that he is not breaking the commandment.

Rather he is keeping it at the new testament level, which is even more.

On the other hand, it is possible for someone to go to church all seven days, or even only on the sabbath, and still not keep the day holy.

Simply going to church isn’t what is keeping the day holy.

Neither is simply worshipping the LORD keeping the day holy.

Every one of us, if we’re honest with ourselves, can remember times when we were quite unholy in our minds, even while we were in church.

Also, we can remember when we worshipped with unclean hearts, unclean hands, and unclean lips.

Therefore, I propose that not all born again Christians, who don’t exclusively worship on the sabbath, are guilty of not loving Jesus.

                        Thank you,
