I am convinced the "fix" was in and that is why Jackie Evancho did not win.  The final winner was supposedly based on public voting, and Jackie had clearly won the hearts of the nation, the audience and the judges.

Follow the money.  An expensive Las Vegas show around a mere 10-year-old girl was very risky, which is understandable.  The powers that be decided it was too risky and not do-able, thus they did not allow her to win.

It may never be revealed, but I am persuaded that is what happened.
