Jared is the Patriarch in Genesis 5 who is Enoch's father, his name means Descend. He seems to be Old Testament embodiment of the concept of the Descending as it applies to the 1 Thessalonians 4:46-47 two stage event.

It still seems to indicate that the Damascus, Syria connection to the Descending (of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself) is strong.
