"Interesting note about 17 Cheshvan"
Several have talked about the potential date of
October 25 or Cheshvan 17 when the “Windows of heaven” were opened and
the great deluge began. Then there are all the last days
prophecies about “just like the days of Noah”, and Revelation 4.1 where
“I saw a window open in heaven….” etc. I just heard another very
interesting point about that date.
In Acts 1.8 Jesus said
that the Gospel was to go to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends
of the earth. The first partial fulfillment of that was by the
apostles for Jerusalem and Judea in the book of Acts. Philip,
(one of the first Deacons) partially fulfilled the final two locations
with his preaching to Samaria and then to “the ends of the earth” when
he preached Christ to the Ethiopian Eunuch. The Ethiopian Eunuch
was from the area of the Aswan Dam in Egypt, sometimes called the land
of Cush. It wasn’t really the end of the earth but rather a
gateway to the trade route from southern Africa and considered at the
time to be the end of the earth.
In Mathew 24.14, Jesus
says that the Gospel will be preached in all the world, and then the
end will come. In 1966, Billy Graham worked with other individuals to
start what became known as the Lausanne Covenant.
http://www.lausanne.org/covenant This organization had a goal of
worldwide evangelism. They have had global conferences about
every 10 years or so since 1974. The last was a conference in
Amsterdam in 2000. However, there is one scheduled in October of
2010 in Cape Town, South Africa. This one will have about 4000
evangelical leaders from around the globe and will be broadcast on the
Web and simulcast on cable around the world. This is the first
time in history that we have had the technology in place for such a
global event.
I find it interesting that the event is in
South Africa – the ends of the earth, and that it will be broadcast
worldwide, and get this – it concludes on October 25 or Cheshvan 17.
